  1. Agree with you on all points, I also was doing the heated seats until until Badger warms up, just yesterday I was able to do a 30 mile drive, about 20 of it on EV the trip being overall 45.6 MPG. Though I live only a short way from my office so the car doesnt have time to warm up and it kills the overal MPGs
  2. There is responsible Hypermiling, and douchey Hypermiling but as I was saying, just learning a bit about hypermiling has made me a better driver overall. Especially where I live a lot of urban driving a lot of lights and stop signs and everyone rushing to be in pole position for the next, accelerating into a stop, braking at the bottom of the hill... And I used to do all of that, call me former Princess Leadfoot... now I realize how stupid I, and the majority of drivers, are. But I will hit the gas if someone is behind me and will go in the right lane, I am not going to be some self-righteous Ahole because I think I am better than anyone. Since having a hybrid I have become much more aware of my resources while driving, I was surprised someone who also has a hybrid hadn't learned that.
  3. this thread was hijacked! LOL
  4. Thanks drdiesel... that sounds interesting, I guess if I buy a Scan Gauge that means that I have crossed over into a serious saveur, yes? :)
  5. So I was behind this Prius, and the guy was accelerating INTO a red lighted intersection and was in general not driving how one in a hybrid would be expected to do. Leadfoot driving in a Prius is incredible to me. Like...why? All hybrid owners should take a class in hypermiling. Scratch that, all drivers should take a class in hypermiling. ... And here is my Max, throwing some serious shade... LOL
  6. So Ive seen my Max go from a healthy 40ish MPG to now (gasp!) nosediving to 35MPG... even with only heated seats no climate... its been in the teens and twenties here and it seems like when it goes bellow 25F its spectacularly hard to get it into EV mode. What I was doing before was letting off the gas until EV mode kicked in then a gental accerlation and staying in EV but I am finding with it super cold it just won't even go into EV mode at all. You guys got any winter tips?
  7. Last night I was of course gleefully showing off my car to some friends of mine, the guy is 6'2 and his girl is 5'11 and both are all legs. They were VERY excited to get into the Max as they both fit very comfortably with all that leg room. The guy even was reasonably able to sit in the back seat with a slight shift. Ford should definately think about marketing this small car to tall people, I think I just sold another Max for Ford :clapping:
  8. Speaking of heated seats, the ones in the C-Max are straight roasters. I feel like I'll have grill marks on my thighs when I get up. The hotter the better, I LOVE how hot the seat gets though the menfolk whine, and mention something about mass die offs....
  9. Ahh I do have one on my fob but I dont have the powerlift... just was strange they didnt put a lever for that in the car and thanks for the videos that will certainly help!
  10. I totally udnerstand the OPs frustration-- we are not even talking about cars 5 years old, and to be told your software on a 2-3 year old car will not be upgraded has nothing to do with tech and everything to do with business decisions. If I had bought a 30K plus fully loaded max I would feel a bit bandoned, too. Some of the comments on here I think are a little biased in Ford;s favour. I love my max, too but I can totally relate the OPs frustration. I have a 14' SE no MFT, and now I am grateful about that decision.
  11. Any of you know how to take the dealership stamp on the back of the car off without damaging the paint?

    Howdy

if you have an outback... seriously consider a C Max, similar in pickup, super roomy and the hybrid bonus
  13. welcome! I got my '14 SE (I dont know what package number I have) on 12/30! OMG its so much fun, isnt it? I have gotten around 40 mpgs but not much more... I am attributing this to heated seats and winter :shift:
  14. thanks everyone.... i have YET to see another Cmax on the road :( but I think we are on to the best little car out there!
  15. I seem to like best the Enlighten mode for the gas to ev guages, what are yours and why?
  16. Hey everyone! I have had a glorious one week in driving my Max and I have some questions, perhaps dumb-- no most likely dumb- but... Is there an inside button/lever for the back hatch? I cannot seem to find one? My adult back seat passengers complained about the inability of them to unlock and let themselves out... I guess that that is unfixable? The Max automatically locks all doors in drive, any way to change that... or that the Max bings at me when I am unseatbelted.. any way to change these? thanks!
  17. Hello everyone! I just got a great deal on a sterling gray '14 C Max SE!! Yay!!!!! I had never heard of these until my husband drove one that was part of the company fleet of cars that he uses (he works for the EPA). I LOVE it and its perfect for my lifestyle. Compact for my urban parking and these small east coast roads with plenty o' room to pack it up for the trade shows I often go to. I LOVE the higher, upright seating and its so much fun to drive. Even without the hybrid it would be exactly what I would need but it has so much more added awesomeness. I happen to like the '14 dash in the SE version better than the '15 dash in the SE so it was totally random that I found the car that had exactly the package I wanted (winter, Sync) and none that I needed (back camera reverse thingy) without having to go to the SEL (I prefer cloth seats). I thought I would miss a moonroof but all the glass makes it feel already so bright and spacious. Any Dr. Who fans? I just bought a sticker of the TARDIS with the words, "Bigger on the inside" perfection!! Now to learn how to drive a Hybrid :) And to tell everyone how awesome this little guy is... :wub2:
