  1. I ordered the SEL with stone leather colour. I see mention of them being heated, but no mention of the cooling feature. Also, there doesn't appear to be a memory feature for different driver seat positions. I wonder if the SEL has the automatic head lamps?

They must have the auto head lamps in Canada and some states require them for rental cars.

  2. My understanding is once the VIN is issued your car is usually built within one to two weeks of the VIN being issued. There are several websites where you can pull up the window sticker once you have the VIN and it will show you the expected build date for your vehicle.

All U.S. built C-Max's are built in the Michigan Auto Plant (M.A.P. for short). Unfortunately the dealer can not predict when it will ship after being built. It could go out the next day or sit at the factory for a month as the one I ordered is doing. That's why the dealer let me switch to one that had already arrived on his lot.

I read on the blue oval site that once your VIN is issued, you have only a few weeks to make any changes because they will build it within that window.

  3. I own a C-MAX SEL and made sure it did not have the panoramic roof. It dosn't open to the outside and when the inside cover is moved back anyone in the back seat can see out it but if sitting in the front seats you don't see out unless you turn around and look out the roof, something I wouldn't suggest while driving. In other words the opening or view is behind the driver and front passengers head. I felt it was useless and a waste of $1200. Most that have arrived at dealers in my area have this option. I am sure some will like it but I do not.

How far back from the beginning of the roof does the panaramic roof begin?

  4. Okay. First, this is another comparison against the Toyota. But like the reviewer said, it's the only two cars that can be really compared together. Second, the Prius seems to always come ahead as far as rear cargo room goes. Why didn't Ford bring the Grand C-Max here rather than the five passenger? Too much weight for a Hybrid system? Third, 46 MPH while STILL under Hybrid mode?

  5. To me at least I think it's all part of a tradeoff. Less total vehicle weight equals better fuel mileage. Yeah, maybe the auto makers save a few dollars by omitting the spare time, but as they try to shave weight out of the vehicle for improved fuel mileage, something has to give.

  6. research here to (big grin) SEL hybrid or Energi

Both models actually scare me. I was looking for the straight up gas model or ecoboost originally since I don't know anything about this hybrid business.

  7. My husband taught me not to use Acro. Their gas is at least .05 cents cheaper than everyone else. I was always taught to use Chevaron or Texico. They are usually .10 cents more expensive.

We don't have acro in Florida. I didn't even know that they are still around. What wrong with their fuel?

    Whatever is cheapest.

  8. Just purchased the first C-Max Hybrid in Arizona. Great to Drive. I traded in my 2010 Golf TDI. Much better ride and quiet. I liked my TDI Power but my C-Max so far, is great!

First MPG test came in at exactly 44.0 MPG mixed. This in Northern AZ at 4000-5000 MSL, in hills. Today I got 45.3 mixed but mostly city. Very hilly where I live. I love it.

My C-Max is loaded with every option, on top of the already SEL package. This weekend I will take a longer trip between Page, AZ and Cedar City, UT. This is in extremely hilly terrain including several elevations puching upwards of 7000 FT/MSL. I'll let you khow.

    I think you're the first one here to get a C-max :)

What color did you get? Did you order it or was it from dealer stock? Did you have to pay over MSRP or ? A lot of questions, but I'm really curious about the C-max.

Sounds like you live in a beautiful area and have a nice weekend trip planned :camera:

  9.

61 miles each way, and my company does not have a place to plug in while at work, I suggested it about a year ago but there is not one yet, not sure if one will be available in the future.

So this makes me think that an Energi would not my much more for me than paying a higher price (looks like $4-5K higher) just to have the newest thing on the block -- but I'm not one who cares alot about showing off the latest gadget, so the hybrid is probably the way to go for me.

That's the problem - the plugin at work or while on the road. Hybrid looks like what I might be getting.
