  1. The Recreational Towing instructions attached to this TSB differ in two ways from the owners manual: 1. In the owners manual there is a bullet referring to ACC mode; this is not in the TSB. 2. In the owners manual the last bullet ends "...engine in the accessory mode." In the TSB this is modified to "...engine in the off position." So, leave it in the off position and don't go to ACC mode. That alone has kept my battery from discharging. The reprogramming of the Powertrain Control Module to the most up to date version is therefore just a "nice to have" and is covered under warranty.
  2. I'm using the Roadmaster Stowmaster All Terrain car mounted tow bar. I had the corresponding mounting bracket installed as part of my new car purchase in August of 2013. Used it a few times around town when I dropped the motorhome off for some maintenance work. I've now towed it behind the motorhome from the DFW area down to South Padre Island with no towing problems. The tow bar is rated at 55 MPH max which isn't that much of a limitation as wasn't going faster than 60 in my motorhome anyway. I'm concerned only that it's says not to back up; if I get into a tight place I'll have to disconnect the car to do any maneuvering.
  3. The 12 volt battery went completely dead both times but came back to life using the 6 amp charger clamped to the posts under the hood. The cord that plugs into the HV charger outlet (4 segment blue circle); yes that works perfectly as I do get the extra battery pack charged up and am able to use EV only mode for about 20 miles. I'll check the other links, thanks.
  4. Both failures occurred after two to three weeks of not being able to conveniently plug the Energi into a 110V outlet. I towed the C-MAX behind my motorhome to this state park. There was a 30amp plug for the motorhome but no 100V outlet. I didn't figure that it mattered; if I didn't plug it in wouldn't it just behave like a hybrid instead? Apparently not. I did bring my Schumacher Speed Charge 6amp charger and a 100 foot extension cord. Twelve hours on the charger and the battery was charged up. Now the regular charge line is charging the big battery. After this second occurrence and reading these forums, apparently I must always keep the charge line plugged into the vehicle. I plugged the extension into an outlet just inside the passenger window of the motorhome. The window is rolled up as much as possible with a small towel draped over the top to block the bugs. I had the charger on hand because my previous car, a Prius, had the 12 volt discharge once. The dealers need to make this clear to new owners because this isn't normal behaviour.
