Exhaust manifold cracked - utterly dismayed
SillyBear replied to SillyBear's topic in General Discussion
You're the second person to mention taking a picture of the part so I'm definitely going to do it. I just called them to ask and they informed me I needed to get the alignment done as well. I just did it last month when I bought new tires! This feels like a complete kick in the sack. -
I'm incredibly disappointed right now. An engine coolant over temperature warning came on in the car while my wife was driving it. She was just a few minutes from the dealership so I told her to take the car there immediately. It took the technicians over a day to identify the problem. The car wasn't holding any coolant, it turns out the exhaust manifold was cracked and since the CMAX runs it through there to heat up the ICE faster there was no patching it. I couldn't believe the manifold would crack on a 4 year old car. Parts and labour on the entire repair will run me $3,000 CAD. The part has to be ordered up from US so it'll take at least 4 days for them to repair it. The technicians there said they've never seen anything like it (maybe because they don't work on CMAXs as often?!) We love our 2013 CMAX but this puts a really bad taste in our mouths. It's an unexpected cost at a really difficult time. Does anyone know if there's anything we can do? Would there be some forgotten warranty or recall that nobody has thought about? It just seems unreal for an exhaust manifold to crack at this stage in the vehicle's life. The car has 115,000 KM on it. Thanks for taking the time to listen to me vent. Sincerely A disappointed CMAX customer

Thanks for all this info Djc. I'll contact my dealer and ask about these next week. As for lemon law, i bought my cmax last year from a used dealer, also I'm in Canada so I'm not sure what our lemon laws are like but I doubt i could build a strong case like Jenie.

I've been going back and forth with the dealership about this since last winter before my warranty expired. There's an open work order remaining. I just don't know what else to tell them. I don't want them just trying random things on my car trying to see what works like they did on your vehicle. Maybe i should ask about modules being up to date? I'm not really sure what that means though.

My dealer did the supposed ANC fix above and the issue still persists. Vehicle is out of warranty but i have an open case with my dealership. I'm not sure what else to tell them. Like mentioned by others, It's more prominent in the cold, usually kicks in when the white "empower" bar is about at the 2nd dash while accelerating. More notable going uphills but it'll do it from a full stop as well. The noise is terrible and i either have to let off the pedal or accelerate a bit faster to get out of the noise making threshold. Can anyone offer up any other suggestions for what I can tell my dealership to try next?

My wife and I haven't been able to connect our phones (Nexus 5 and 6P) since last weekend. They were working fine prior to this, but now every time I try to add a device, it flips to the pairing screen and after about 2 seconds the "Pairing Failed" error appears on the screen and goes back to the previous screen. I'm fairly sure it's not our phones since they were working before and every other Bluetooth device works just fine. Some internet searching led me to a Ranger/Explorer forum where one of the solutions was to pule the fuse that controls the Bluetooth module. I've tried doing a master reset and following some of the other troubleshooting methods but none have worked. Does anyone know which fuse I should pull to hopefully fix the issue? I'm open to the other suggestions. I can't get to the dealer for a couple weeks. Also vehicle is out of warranty and I'm not sure if this would be covered? Thanks!

Strange, long wooooo sound at steady speeds, ICE on
SillyBear replied to Alex Sams's topic in 2013 Ford C-MAX Hybrid
Hi Jenie, Have you ended up finding a resolution to the problem? Ford had made adjustments to the ANC in my car back in June. The noise was gone but now that the weather is cooling it's unfortunately back. I picked up my car from my dealer today and they said the noise is most related my tires. I highly doubt it is but they requested I come back in on a cooler day when I can reproduce the noise and take a technician out. -
Hello, I logged into my Ford account to check on the status of my car and was surprised to see 4 recalls listed. The restraint control module I was contacted about and will be addressed tomorrow, the other 3 I've never heard of and there isn't much description provided. Anyone know what these are? I'm only noticing unusual noises when the ICE is on. The car is dead quiet in electric at slow or stationary speeds in neutral. I guess it's alright, I'll test it from time to time. I'm glad it's covered under the hybrid parts warranty.

Accessories powered via USB or 12V
SillyBear replied to SillyBear's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Is anyone aware of a way to force the car to cut power to the outlets after locking the car? Having my camera stay powered for 15 to 30 mins after is really making it difficult to sort through my driving videos. Also videos of the car parked are taking up lots of space on my SD card. -
Quick question about the transmission issue, does it occur any time or does the ICE have to be on? I pulled into work yesterday and battery was very low so the ICE turned on as I finished backing in. I put the car in neutral and heard some unusual noises coming from underneath me, possibly transmission related. Shifting in drive or park made the noise go away. Could this be related? 2013 cmax

I believe it was mentioned earlier in the thread that the microphones were replaced. From I understood the sound lessened because it was no longer being amplified, but it still persisted outside the car. -
Accessories powered via USB or 12V
SillyBear replied to SillyBear's topic in Accessories & Modifications
My camera is a capacitor version with no battery. So when it loses power it shuts off after 5 seconds. I guess if it stays powered for another 10-15 min it's no big deal. Thanks for the info! -
Hi all, I bought a dashcam recently and I've noticed that it stays powered on for a while after I shut my car off and lock it. I've been unplugging it because I don't want to risk draining my battery for no reason. My questions are, how long until accessories powered by usb or 12V are turned off? And do I need to worry about waking up in the morning to a dead battery? Thanks in advance

Thanks for the update jenie. I was hopeful that maybe it was just the ANC in my car (I know they beat yours to death) but after hearing it today in warm temperatures with my widows down, I'm starting to doubt it's involved. My next steps are to relive fuse 22 and ask another opinion at the other ford dealer.
