  1. I have a 2015 c-max and I use the RVI breaking system. I follower all of the direction in the C-Max Manual and the instructions from RVI and had no problems. I only towed for about 400 miles. I will say at first I had some issues, DO NOT plug the unit into the cigarette lighter in the console after about 15 mins or so the power will shut off and the communication with the RVI will be lost. USE the DC outlet in aft rear cargo compartment on the right hand side that has continuous power. This solved all of my problems. Good luck dlan603
  2. Bill-N,,,, Wab,, Thank you for the reply. I didn't know there was a plug in the back. I will used your suggestions and get an extension cord for the rear plug. Now I need to go find it :) . Thank you again
  3. Ok today was a big day. I hooked up my enegi behind my Excursion and towed it around for 30 miles. Everything went well with 1 exception. I installed anew RVI brake 2 had the setting on 5 psi Active brakes high sentivity. The problem I kept loosing signal with the car. Every time I stopped got out a reset the RVI communication would re pair. I am going to contact RVI tomorrow. Does any one know if the 12 volt socket in the consol times out? I could not find that in OM. The little light on the plug I could not see in bright sunlight. However when I opened the door the light was on and the lights on the RVI was blinking. Once I reset everything it was good for about another ten minutes? Any help would be great.
  4. I don't need picture, Thank you for the offer. I think I am going use garymkrieg ideal and use some zip ties to the bottom of power connector.
  5. Thank you both for the information. I have Road Master and it has the stand offs to attach the cable. Great ideals I will attach mine there also. Will let you know how works out. Hopefully I will never need to see if it works! dlan603
  6. With all of the C-max towing from all the different Brands. Does anyone have a recommended placed to install the Brake Away Switch? I am in the process of installing the RVI system for my 2015 C-Max Energi and I can't seem to find a mounting place on the front grill? Would like to hear how others fixed this issue. dlan603
  7. Thank you to all that replied to this post. I am abandoning this post and moving over to where it should have been. Roof Racks and Towing. :)
  8. Thank you for the help. I will be doing some test looking and studying the car manuals. I will let you know the out come. I never heard of the ready brake and have been looking at them also as and alternative. Have a great weekend.
  9. After you first post you got me think about the make up of this car. I am mechanically incline and I thank you for replying. I am going to do some testing the weekend. I think i know why most report dead batteries after 2-3 hours because of the electric vaccum pump running. I am in the kinded mode where I can't see why the 9300 won't work.
  10. Called brake buddy today about my model 9300. They said no and recommended the stealth system? Anyone have any additional systems they recommend?
  11. I would like to thank you both for the help. Sometime back I purchased a complete tow package from a friend that was getting out of the motorhome going back to trailer towing. It was all Roadmaster items including a Break Buddy 9300 model. So now I will do some more research to see if this new enough to use. Looking forward to going down the road!
  12. I recently purchased a C-Max Energi for the purpose of towing all wheels down behind my motor home. The owners manual tells you how to set the car up for RV towing but nothing about what to use for assisted braking Now it seam I am having problems finding the right braking systems to place in the cabin since the energi also has regenerating brakes. Most state laws require assisted braking for vehicle being towed. I have talked to Ford dealer they have no clue and depending on what RV dealer they all have their own opinion. Has anyone set one up for RV towing? What brand are you using? dlan603
