  1. The door seals squeak in both of our CMaxes.  I have to periodically apply silicone spray to them.  I've never had to (periodically at least) do this with other vehicles. :headscratch:

My driver's side door squeaks the same.  I took it to the dealer and it was fixed for two months then it came back.  I'll have to try the silicone spray on the door seals!

  2. Here's one option: http://www.unikey.com/

This one is really new and only available for pre-order right now.  It relies on bluetooth from your phone and when it detects the presence of your phone in your purse or pocket via bluetooth you just touch the lock and it unlocks.  Or you can use the key fob it comes with (like the C-Max keyfob) and then you don't need a smart phone.  With the keyfob its the same concept it detects the presence of the fob and then you just touch the lock.  It's pricey though at $220 per lock.

  3. My oil change light came on at 8900 miles.  I'm at 16,800 miles right now and assuming my driving is consistent I'd expect it to come on again around 18K miles.  Like others have said change the oil when the car tells you to.  After a few oil changes you'll get a good idea how many miles that is based on your driving.

  4. In the case of the A/C compressor just not having it turn on every time you hit "Auto" would help.  I've noticed it can be 60F outside, I hit "Auto" with a set temp of 72F and the A/C will also turn on.  I've gotten used pressing the "Auto" button, then immediately checking the outside temp and if it's lower then the set temp reaching down to shut off the A/C.  Hopefully one of the changes will be for the system to check the outside temp and if it's lower then the set temp then it will not automatically turn on the A/C when you hit the "Auto" button.

  5. So I thought this was a cool upgrade and ordered the led bulbs for the puddle lights, rear cargo area and rear plate.  After replacing the rear plate and cargo area lights I went to do the puddle lights and had a Homer Simpson moment when I realized there are no puddle lights on the SE model!  I guess that option only comes on the SEL.

  6. HotPotato, do you know if we can buy the Sony factory system after-the-fact, and install it now?

I'm pretty sure that was only an option on the SEL model. We SE owners never had the chance.

The issue I'd worry about here is that the Sony radio has a stronger amp than the standard MFT radio. Ford has a history of doing this by adding an external amp mounted some where in the car rather than building it in to the stereo. So just swapping out a MFT system for a Sony one may not work since you won't have the external amp.

  7.

We, also, chose the SE, mainly to save money. Don't care about leather or a bigger dash screen. The features on our other car, a Volt, that I miss most on the C-Max are the backup camera and the auto dimming mirrors. The only disappointment with our C-Max so far (we've owned it only three months) is the crumby turning radius. Not a horrible problem, and that's not much of a complaint, either. Generally, we're delighted with the car.

If you check the "accessories and modifications" section of the forum you'll find a write up I posted on how to install an auto dimming mirror on the Cmax. You just have to buy the mirror. Amazon and eBay are good sources for getting the mirror.

  8. I noticed it early on also and had a similar experience when I took it to the dealer. The service tech noted that it was loud and said they'd contact Ford for guidance. In the end Ford engineers advised them it was normal and nothing was to be done. The service tech did mention that they checked other C-Maxs on the lot and two others made the noise and a third did not.

  9. You don't have to wait 6 months. You can cancel anytime.  I call within a week or so after the start of service and cancel effective on the normal termination date 6 months out.   I've done this probably 1/2 dozen times in the past with no issues. One time I tried to cancel immediately while still on the phone with the rep that signed me up but I got the story that the system couldn't handle it until the system files were updated which he thought was overnight.  By cancelling earlier, you'll also then likely get email / mail renewal reminders that your subscription is about to run out. Otherwise, since it's on auto renewal at the then current rate, I doubt you will see any reminders. :)

That's good to know.  I'm going to cancel it now so I don't have to worry about it six months.

  10. I was looking for a WeatherTech cargo liner, too, but the website says it's still not available as of today.  As mentioned above, you can submit a request for them to consider manufacturing a particular item at their website. Here is the link:  http://www.weathertech.com/service/product-request-form/

Because they haven't produced one yet I ended up going with the Ford cargo liner and have been very pleased with it.  It's made similar to the WeatherTech floor liners.

  11. I have the same noise but have described it as an electric chain saw buzz. I took it to Ford and they could hear it too and admitted it was loud. However after contacting Ford engineers they received a reply that it was normal and nothing was done.

Please post if your dealer finds a fix because it bugs me to.

  12. I just renewed mine this past week,  $25 for 6  months ($29 after taxes) for the Sirius Select Package which does not include TravelLink or Traffic.  I just have to remember to cancel in 6 months when the price skyrockets.  He did also offer 1 year of the Select Package for $99 so that's an option that's out there to.

I believe you can also sign up for TravelLink or Traffic for $2.50 per month/per service without having to sign up for the radio portion of their service.  Both features were neat during the free trail period but seemed redundant to what a smart phone and even the Ford Sync Services can do.

  13. Salsaguy,

I've bought two cars through the Costco program and was very pleased both times.  However when I bought my C-Max the Costco dealer was in Santa Monica and I wasn't interested in driving out that far to order the car.  When I spoke with the Santa Monica dealer on the phone I was told the Costco price was $300 over invoice (+ the Ford advertising fee + fuel + taxes/docs).  I fired off an email to the Fleet Manager at closer dealership (Vista Ford in Woodland Hills) and the fleet manager matched the Costco price with out hesitation.  Galpin Ford said they would do the same thing.  If there's a particular C-Max at a different dealership you like you can either ask the Costco dealership to transfer it to theirs or speak to the Fleet manager at the other dealership about matching the Costco price.
