  1. jestevens... It is my understanding that the 2013 transmissions that were failing were from the beginning of the model year, like the first 2/3rds of production. I took delivery of mine in May 2013 and my transmission failed. I started noticing the rumbling from the transmission when mileage was in the 93-97k range but I thought it was a wheel bearing. By the time I had it properly diagnosed I was past 100k. I went a few rounds with Ford and they eventually paid for about $700 of repair. I ended up paying around $5,000. I now have 333,000 miles on this car, still love it, but now I am getting a loud whining from what the dealer tells me is a failing transmission. There is no impact on driveability, so I am thinking about running it until it drops and them making decision on a new transmission. Dealer wants $7,000 this time.
  2. I have a 2013 C-max (not energi) It rolled over 333,000 miles today. Original Battery Pack with no issues. [knock on wood]. This car did get a new transmission at 108,000m miles. It was making a bad bearing noise. Independent shop said it was a transmission bearing. Ford Dealer Service later confirmed this. I had been hearing the noise since about 97,000 miles but thought it was a wheel bearing. By the time I figured it out, the hybrid component warranty was over. I went a few rounds with Ford and they eventually agreed to pay for $700 of the repair. Still cost me nearly $6000. For the last 40,000 miles or so, the car has been making a whining sound when the gas engine kicks on and seems to be loudest from 20 to 45 MPH. Dealer has again told me this needs a new transmission and said it will be $7000. Since the noise is not effecting driveability and the car has so many miles. I decided to just keep driving for the time being. Please let me know if anyone has a simpler fix for this. I probable should change the transmission fluid, but I have not done this yet.
  3. I have a 2013 C-max that I bought new. It crossed 300,000 miles just 6 days short of its 10th birthday (the day I bought it). I have not had any issues with the High Voltage Battery. Fearing the imminent collapse of the big battery is my main source of stress due to the miles on this car. I should also point out that My engine was replaced due to hitting a chunk of concrete in the road that did no body damage but went underneath and cracked the engine block at 180,000 miles. My insurance would only pay for a used engine with similar miles, but my dealer could only find an engine with 40,000 miles on it. So although my High Voltage Battery has 300,000+ miles, the engine Only has 160,000. I hope to get 400,000 miles out of this car, but I will be happy if it makes it to 350,000. I should also mention that I live in Michigan, but lived in Colorado for 4 years with this car. So, it has always been in a cold climate, and has been garaged I would estimate 97% of its life. I think the moderating conditions a garage provides has helped preserve Big Battery and also the fact that it gets driven every day.
