  1. Welcome VKB.  Could not agree more !  Enjoy the new ride - a more well rounded hybrid with power 'on-demand', solid feel and great road manners.

    Nick

Thanks Nick!  I agree about the power, solid feel and handling.  Also, the interior has a really nice feel to it.  I almost feel like I'm driving a luxury car now.  :)

  2. The Prius is a great car if you're looking only for efficiency in a car.  Mine was a very soft riding car, that felt kind of lifeless to drive.  My new C Max has been a really nice step up for the interior and the driving experience, but the prius got better mpg's.  There's no taking that away from it.  The 2016 Prius gets even better mileage, but I would not want to drive a car that looks like that.

  3. I think that is one issue, but I think the larger issue is gas prices. People really aren't interested in hybrid vehicles when gas prices are $2 per gallon. Rising gas prices have increased the interest in hybrids but they are still having to discount hybrids heavily to sale them.

There are big discounts.  That's why I bought mine now. I got an extra $1000.00 off because I was trading in a Prius.  Also, 5 year 0% interest loan.

  4. I owned a 2006 Ford Freestyle. It looked like an explorer, but lower to the ground, and it was cheaper and better for in town use (like most folks actually USE an Explorer). Ford refused to advertise it, and it sold poorly. They eventually slapped a new body on it and it has been successful as the Flex.

Anyway, the C-Max reminds me of that one, but in this case I'm not sure why Ford isn't advertising the car. Maybe they would rather sell the Fusion or Escape?

I think they got off to a bad start having to downgrade the gas mileage twice in the past.  They really should take advantage of the fact the Consumer reports now lists it as a recommended vehicle.

  5. I was involved in an accident yesterday.  Someone blew through a redlight and hit my passenger side front quarter panel.  The damage is extensive in the front (quarterpanel, hood, front bumper assembly completely taken off, possible axle/tire damage)  My concern is the energi battery and any possible damage that may have resulted.

Has anyone here been in an accident and had issues with the battery at a later point?

Wow, sorry to hear your news.  Are you OK?  A car can always be replaced.

  6. Congrats on the new car! I look forward to hearing your C-Max experiences and adventures.

Thanks raadsel!   I can't believe this car is not more popular.  Every time I told someone I was getting a C Max, no one seemed to know what they were.  It's like Ford treats it like a red headed stepchild.  :)  They really need better advertising.

So far, I am loving the electrically adjusted leather driver's seat.  I haven't been this comfortable in a car since the last Saab I owned.  I think this will be a great trip car.

  7. Just got a great deal on a 2016 SEL, Silver with charcoal black leather interior.  I'm really loving it so far!  What an upgrade from my "other hybrid".  The computer is telling me I'm getting 42-43 mpg combined so far.  Now I have to wait for the apple car play update later this year.  I'm really glad I went for it.  It's such a great car for a tall person.

  8. Hi everyone,  I currently drive a prius, and after test driving a c max, I decided I want one.  My favorite cars that I owned have all been Saabs.  I am a big fan of European cars, and when I drove the c max, it made sense to me that is was originally designed in Germany.

I have heard rumors that the c max will be discontinued, but it seems like Ford is not making any official statements yet.  I even e mailed the corporate office to ask them if they would be bringing the refreshed European C max "facelift" here to the US.  This was their response:

Thank you for taking one of our C-MAX vehicles out for a drive. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed what it has to offer. At this time, we have no confirmed information about whether we will be changing the style to the body, however; we have documented your interest in the European model for future consideration. Thank you for your feedback. We invite you to stay up to date with our current and future vehicles by visiting http://media.ford.com

If you have any further questions about our current vehicle line up, our Marketing Program Headquarters is here to help.  You can send us a reply to this e-mail or give us a call. The reality is that I do not "need" another car now.  I have a 2010 with 30,000 miles.  The C Max was not in the US when i bought my car.  I'm wondering if it would be a wise idea to buy a car that may be discontinued?  I would assume there will be parts for them for quite a while.

    Any thoughts out there?
