  1. I used it when I first got the car, then I turned it off and went "Oh the throttle lag is gone". I can't stand it. It's a safety hazard because it makes throttle response very slow and inconsistent. You'll press the gas pedal a certain amount to keep up with traffic, but you won't, and then you'll press it more, then the acceleration will finally come, and you've contributed greatly to traffic congestion by creating a space in front of you. And when you need to accelerate fast to get onto a major road, or merge, you won't be able to until the car decides it's ready. Instead of using "eco mode" just practice controlling the throttle precisely
  2. Wait so you guys are redlining your engines on cold oil to "check for leaks"? Seems like the low chance of an undiscovered leak is not worth harming your engine. And why would leaks only start after changing the oil?
  3. The contestants probably had no idea what it was and thought they were getting a Fiesta
  4. It's surprising that it would flex abnormally because the C-Max is one of the strongest cars. IIHS found that the roof is substantially stronger than any other car, being able to handle 27,000lb crushing force.
  5. I may trade my C-Max for an F-150. They have great seats
  6. You misunderstood my post. The shape of the AIRBAG is different and that's why it's dangerous to swap. The airbag is shaped specifically for the car. You can drive whatever vehicle you want, your risk of death is much higher without side airbags. Your Volvo is probably 100x as likely to kill you because not only does it have no airbags, it also has no side impact protection, virtually no rollover protection, and no crumple zones. I work in law enforcement, specifically in highway safety analysis, and my professional opinion is that it's stupid to make your car MORE dangerous
  7. Or the shape of the car could cause the airbag to smash your head, or the shape of the airbag allows your head to collide with the A pillar. There's a reason they're specifically designed for each vehicle. Read through the IIHS crash testing reports and you'll see how precisely these things are tailored Not having side airbags is a bad decision. Side impacts are very likely to be deadly without an airbag
  8. There's no other car that gets 40mpg and costs $20k and is quiet on the highway
  9. Don't forget the seats contains the side airbags which are custom designed for the car. The wrong shape airbag could kill you
  10. The C-Max has much better sound insulationg so you get less noise on the highway, less road noise.
  11. I could have sworn I posted this already... Maybe I forgot to press "post". The reason your electric miles are so high is because when you switch to "ev later" the car is charging the battery with the engine. You're not driving further on electricity from the power station
  12. What about 2016 models without Sync 3? I just have the base system with no touchscreen. How many amps do I get? I see a lot of references to Sync 3 but there's virtually no information anywhere about the cheap stereo
  13. Yes you're right, I've posted about that too. The C-Max is great for city driving because you can accelerate quickly from a stop. Before I had a Volvo V70 turbo and before that a 2006 Mustang GT. The Volvo had turbo lag so accelerating from a stop was terrible. Once the engine had some revs it was fast. The Mustang I had to drop the clutch. The C-Max is better at lower speeds. It's also not bad at merging, IE accelerating from 40-60 The weird thing is they don't market the drivetrain as anything other than efficient
  14. With EV+ enabled mine seems to go down to the low end of the scale when I drive home, which I believe is 40% charge. Is 40% better than 70% overnight?
  15. What a shame that automakers are abandoning hybrids. It's ridiculous that your choices are trendy plugins and small cars that get 20mpg in the city
  16. I had a Volvo V70 with the tan dash, and it reflected off the windshield in direct sun
  17. Better seat materials that don't generate so much static eletricity
  18. I find that AC barely affects my mpg. It helps that it runs off the battery with an electric motor, probably much more efficient than belt driven
  19. It's in the 90s and you're hardly running the AC??
  20. Looks great, less like a small van and more like a Focus
  21. Keep in mind you have no idea what the temperatures are under the hood. All you can see is coolant temperature. How do grille covers affect the temperature of the electric motor? The wiring? The computer? How will the longevity of compenents be affected? Nobody knows
  22. I want to paint the rocker panels but I can't find any instructions for removing them. Maybe I'll just mask off the rest of the car
  23. You can probably buy that color in a can https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dautomotive&field-keywords=ford+ice+storm+can
  24. I painted mine with Rustoleum 2X white gloss. The color is pretty close and you can only tell it's not factory paint in certain light. I think it looks much better than stock. I was originally planning to mask the fake grilles but was too lazy, but I think it looks fine all white Use a sharp object to pop out the front edge, then pull outward. Then once the front, top, and bottom clips are popped out, slide the whole thing forward. It takes a lot of force to pull forward and overcome the rear clips. Mine don't seem to pop back in 100%, I guess I did some damage to the clips
