  1. I don't know what it is, but the Candy Blue I see in pictures looks WAY better than any Candy Blue I saw on a lot.  I really wish they had done this car in Ink Blue (I think that's the shade the Edge comes in)

Slighty OT-- how did you get the link to Flickr to work?  I tried it (using the 'grab BBCode' under the 'Share' dropdown) and I got some error mesage that said something like 'this extension is not supported'.

Oh, and here's the car, decked out for Christmas:
  2. I haven't yet tried to stand it up. If that works, two bikes would probably fit side-by-side. Based on SBGrad's pictures of his antique ( ;) ) mountain bike in the back of his car, I don't think the area is quite long enough for two but I could be wrong.

You mean my CLASSIC hardtail...  The road bike won't stand up under any cicumstances, so I  can't really try to get 2 side by side.  The next thing I want to try is to see if I can stand up the mtn bike and leave one car seat up as well.  That means I could take 3 people and 1 bike.

  3. Looks like I'll be going to this event, too. I requested the 11:00 time slot and am looking forward to it. More out of curiosity than filing complaints. Overall, I scored my C-Max quite high.

I don't have any real complaints, the main reason I am going is the chance to spend 2-3 hours wih an engineer-- how many times does THAT crop up?!  I admit, I DO have a list of talking points on my tablet.  I'm going through the manual and anything I can't figure out on my own goes on the list.  I wonder if the engineers have their own list of questions for us, or they're just going to let us drive the agenda.  Either way, I am looking forward to it.  See you at 11 (Sterling grey/blk interior).

  4. Really what it came down to was interior and options.  We decided on the black interior and 301A package, and would've settled for black white or grey exterior.  Went to 3 dealers, only one had what we wanted, so we got a grey one.  I didn't really like the contrast between the black rocker panels and the white exterior, so I'm glad we didn't go that way.  YMMV.

  5. I like to stash my snow brush/ice scrap, bungee straps, hand towels, first aid kit, reusable shopping bags and select tools in there.

Well, we don't usually need snow scrapes in coastal CA (Mexico is less than 2 dozen miles away), but other than that, I keep the same sort of stuff back there.

  6. Is anyone using the under-floor storage bins in the back seat? Or the little storage trays on the floor on the outboard edges of the front seats? I have no idea what use I could possibly have for any of them.

Underfloor (aka Han Solo smuggling compartment) behind the passenger I have one of those hammer thingies that will smash a car window and cut seatbelts.  The storage tray outboard of my seat has a pen and a mini leatherman.

  7. I thought they sent that form letter to all the SoCal owners and it depended on who replied?

I have no idea how they did the selection and I didn't hear about it until this thread started and a couple of days after that I got the letter.

I wonder if this had something to do with some surveys I filled in when Ford emailed me almost a few days after I took delivery of Max...keep an eye out, maybe they're still sending out the letters.

I have no idea how I got picked, but I also filled out a number of surveys from Ford right after I took delivery last Oct.

  8. I'm in.  RDA called to confirm this afternoon-- 1st time I was glad I picked up on an unknown incoming number.

I was thinking focus group in a conference or ballroom, but no.  They are doing it in a parking structure and I'm not welcome WITHOUT my CMAX.  I had to agree to allow a Ford engineer in my car, and I also had to agree to drive him/her around a pre-arranged driving course.  I felt like Brer Rabbit-- oh please, don't put a Ford engineer in my car where I'll have him/her all to myself!

I'll take the $200, but I would've done it for a really cool swag/gift bag and no $$$.

  9. Gotta pic, I can't seem to visualize what you are referring to (seat post).

I have a quick release clamp on the seat post, the bike doesn't fit inside with the seat at its normal (riding) position.  I undo the quick release, drop the seat down 4-5" down the seat tube, and then it fits  inside and upright.

  10. I got one of these sunshades discussed in the first post a month or so ago.  It is definitely great quality, but it is VERY bulky.  Kind of built like a tank, and it is big as one, so it is a tradeoff.  I like it overall, but must store it in the backseat or in the cargo area if your backseat is often occupied.

Yah, folded up it is 38x7x2" and it isn't foldable so it takes up a bit of space.  Not that I'm complaining, I couldn't find any 'regular' sunscreen that was tall enough to be held in place with the sun visors.

  11. I used the stock tape and the unit is held in well, it's not going anywhere. The plastic piece is quite rigid and once it's down and rolled it not coming up! I wouldn't bother with any extra tape.

Yah, the aftermarket scuff guard has MORE than enough stick-- be careful applying it because it grabs HARD as soon as the tape touches the bumper.
