Curious. Given that many C-Max Energi and Hybrid models have depleting main batteries that can fail to charge the 12v, would it be possible to adapt an "add on" alternator to the ice engine dedicated to the 12v battery? Obviously the weaker main battery would negate the hybrid advantages, but could the car's life be extended? This assumes the main battery charges some during driving and remains capable of cranking the car?

I have a 2015 C-Max Hybrid with 51K miles on it now without any issues so far. I've read that cars manufactured before 08/2015 have potentially bad transmission bearings. Mine was manufactured 04/2015, so falls within that period. Have there been many transmission failures with cars similar to mine? Thanks,

Many thanks. Good to know. I would think this would also apply to the Energi as the larger battery degrades and it operates more as the Hybrid (with 800# of additional weight).

We have a 2015 SEL hybrid (39K miles). Was wondering about what to expect for impact upon the traction battery and overall mpg over time. I understand that the car should function for quite awhile, even as the battery degrades.

From your Fuelly experience, what mpg are you getting with the Goodyears?

I know. It gets very "iffy" when you hunt data about real mpg results. Every manufacturer claims a lot, but it is hard to find any real world comparison data. Many reviews taut the LRR efficiency of the Pirellis, but it seems mostly speculation. Most state that the Michelins are the best, but fail to mention how much better than other brands. A price difference of $430 would offset a lot of lost mpg miles.

At Sam's, (with Aug 4th free mounting special) the cost is $840 for the Michelins vs $410 for the Pirellis. It is tempting.

2015 C-Max SEL Pirelli P4 Four Seasons Plus - 225/50R17 94V Tire Will need to replace my original tires in the near future. My driving is 90% local, at 40-45 mph and doesn't justify the price for OEM Michelins.
