  1. Curious.

Given that many C-Max Energi and Hybrid models have depleting main batteries that can fail to charge the 12v, would it be possible to adapt an "add on" alternator to the ice engine dedicated to the 12v battery?  Obviously the weaker main battery would negate the hybrid advantages, but could the car's life be extended?

This assumes the main battery charges some during driving and remains capable of cranking the car?

  2. We have a 2015 SEL hybrid (39K miles). Was wondering about what to expect for impact upon the traction battery and overall mpg over time. I understand that the car should function for quite awhile, even as the battery degrades.

  3. I wonder if anyone has tried them on a Hybrid to see how much of a drop in MPG's they got. :headscratch: It would be nice if someone would do a current updated test of LRR tires.

I know.  It gets very "iffy" when you hunt data about real mpg results.  Every manufacturer claims a lot, but it is hard to find any real world comparison data.

Many reviews taut the LRR efficiency of the Pirellis, but it seems mostly speculation.  Most state that the Michelins are the best, but fail to mention how much better than other brands.   A price difference of $430 would offset a lot of lost mpg miles.

  4. Punchline to save time reading: secure the spare tire for when the seats are down and a dog is in the back, or just as a good thing to do.

This reminds me of something I have been wanting to post.  I often take my dog in the car and lower the back seats to keep the seats clean and allow him to move from front to back easily. I had bought a nylon strap to secure the tire but never used it.  I was travelling without the dog but the seats were still down. A light turned yellow and I thought the guy in front was going to go through and I was going to go through also.  Well he didn't or he changed his mind.  I had a 20% score on braking.  The tire moved quickly into the back of the front seat.  If the dog was in the car things could have gone really badly.  The tire is now secured with strap.  It is a long strap and it loops around the metal loops that are exposed when the hatch door is open(toward the bottom).  The strap was less that $10 from ebay.

Also bought a 2016 Focus donut spare on Ebay, complete with jack and foam insert.  Will have my service guy test fit when next tire rotation.  Mine is lashed down as yours with a tire cover.
