  1. This is the manual I found for the UK version (the close up images are not the best and they don't indicate if they are showing the front or rear):

    http://www.fordmanuals.org/page-899.html

It says there are indentations marking the jack locations in the sills, and I see one similar location on the front of my vehicle (an upside down "U" cut into one side of the sill). In the rear there are two raised areas along the seam where the panels are joined which may also mark a location to place a jack (this is just a guess), but there is no upside down U cutout/indent like in the front (similar to what the UK manaul shows). I could not trust the UK info anyway without confirmation from Ford though. I still have not been able to contact the CS lady with my dealer who said she would help me get the page from the maintenance manual showing the lift points, but I am going to keep bugging them until I get something.

  2. Has happened to me numerous times.. At first I thought it was maybe a user error.. But it's not.. The car shows that its ready to drive but when I push the gas, it acts like the emergency brake is on.

Do you normally set the e-brake when you park? The reason I ask is because the other day it happened and I forgot to take the e-brake off, and let off the brake briefly before I realized what happened so I put the brake on, released the e-brake and it would not go in reverse so I put it back in park, then in reverse and it still would not go, had to powercycle the car to get it going again. I think I triggered the hill climb assist (see Chinto's post about that above) in that last instance, but it's weird that it did not reset after putting it back in park, the engine was also running at the time.

  3. I think it is there on the SE as well, I recall seeing it when I was playing with the menus on the left side screen, there were settings for adding delays like 20, 60, 90 seconds or something like that. It was under info>lighting. The timer starts once the doors are locked I think.

UPDATE, I was wrong about where the settings were. They are under Settings>Vehicle>Lighting>Home Light. That is where the delay can be set for Manual, 20sec, etc.

  4. One of the items is the hands free feature where you just kick your foot under the tail gait to open the rear hatch/door. Yes, with the SE it will open automatically when you push a button inside, but the hands free only comes with the SEL.

You mean I have been swiping my foot behind my car for no reason? I really need to do more research on this stuff :D

Ford has done a good job of making it impossible to get things a la carte, so I agree you have a good point. I also found that the salesperson who sold me the car was (admittedly) not that familiar with the features - they even had stickers all over the vehicle I purchased (which was an SE) advertising the features like the liftgate which it does not have.

Having the base SE I am not missing any of the MFT stuff (and understood exactly what I was buying having configured several options online and deciding that the extra cost was not justifiable). That said, I would have liked to get the backup camera since the view out the back is not great. The problem (for me) with the built in cam (like most cars) is that it cannot be accessed unless the car is in reverse so that adds another layer of complexity on top of choosing options (I'd like to have it available anytime). I'd also considered the fogs if there was a simple way to add them using a kit which would likely be considerably cheaper than the jump to an SEL, but are something I can live without until then. Another example of knowing the limits of the optional gizmos, is AppLink, which is only on the base (yeah, what the heck, not on MFT?). Knowing the limits of the factory options is just another headache, and more difficult than going to ford.com and playing with the options.

  5. Makes sense, the rest of those are all EV or fuel cell vehicles.

After seeing the list of qualified vehicles I thought it was interesting that the Prius is included (but not the V), so I found some more info which will clarify the reasoning (C-max hybrid is rated as a ULEV II Emissions vehicle):

What is a Clean Pass Vehicle? What vehicles are eligible?

    Eligible Vehicle Criteria:

    • Vehicles which are certified to the California Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV) standard and achieve a United State Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) highway fuel economy rating of 45 miles per gallon or more; or

    • Pre-model year 2005 hybrid vehicles which are certified to the California Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV) standard and achieve a USEPA highway fuel economy rating of 45 miles per gallon or more.

  6. I have the same question. I asked the CS lady at the dealer who said she would get that info (which I was told is in the shop manual by Ford), but I have not heard back. Ford themselves said that they have the info, but would not provide it and would not say why. I called my dealer and left several messages, but no response from them. The funny thing is, they have been on me to answer the satisfaction survey, but I am pretty sure that would not be good for them, the more I have to deal with the dealership.

  7. Thats not really too bad, my average is still under 42mpg - maybe 50/50 city/hwy. It actually got a pretty big boost from 40mpg average recently with quite a lot of highway driving. I did notice that it makes a difference if you are behind a big rig or a high profile vehicle (not tailgating of course). Somebody else here also noted the same thing. Plus if you are not in a hurry (and behind a truck) you may be able to hang back enough to use EV sometimes, in moderate traffic that may be difficult though.

You may actually do better without the CC if you are canceling it often - to take advantage of the EV mode more effectively. I'd suggest using the "empower" display to see how much overhead you have left in EV when you are in that mode.

  8. I can't speak to the Nav system (MFT) since I got the poor mans C-max (SE with no frills or thrills). But as far as the digital cluster, it seems to be much more intuitive over the Prius. The prius puts the display more in the line of sight, but the simplicty of the "empower" dispaly mode (which shows the moving blue outline threshold to give an idea of how much accelerator you can give before dropping out out EV) is all I need to see what the system is doing. And it is pretty natural (for old school drivers) to glance down at the cluster now and then anyway. The right hand side display in the cluster is pretty much wasted with the leaves, but with MFT it opens up a few more things to show.

If you do get the SE base without MFT, and do want to geek out a bit, all is not lost. App-link (only with non-MFT equipped vehicles) will allow control of several apps from the physical buttons on the dash (Pandora and Scout for Android for instance). This link explains how the apps work with the car:

  9. The Weathertech mats are now available. Why are they, as well as the OEM Ford accessory ones only available for the front and not the back seat floor?

Because in a C-max, nothing messy ever happens in the back seat. happy%20feet.gif

Seriously though the weathertech digital fit floor liners are still not available. Since I have a dog, I need the liners. I suggest that if anyone is interested, they contact Weathertech and fill out their request form.

  10. I was quoted over $1600 for the premium with 7/100k and a $100 deductible, and that was supposed to be the "deal" price. I felt they should have given me a better deal on the warranty due to a cosmetic problem which they did try to resolve (mostly), but it still cost me 3 days use of the vehicle. The dealer told me that their price was $100 over cost, but I can get it online cheaper ($1155 at http://andersonandkoch-ford-warranty.com).

Needless to say I'm pretty steamed right now since I doubt they pay more than what I can get it online for.

  11. I've done the same thing with putting it in gear when it was not actually started up, but I think in my case (since I have the key) it may have been due to not fully turning it to the start position. Since nothing really changes except a light on the dash when you "start" the car and it is in EV, I think some feedback like a chime or something would be good to confirm it is actually started. Coming from a non-hybrid I always press the brake when starting, but it is pretty easy to tell when a normal car is actually started too :D

  12. Maybe Ford is waiting until after the election season when the airwaves are not as saturated with political ads. Possibly ads cost more in this enviornment, and speaking for myself, I generally skip them more now than at other times. I only saw the C-max ad because I was told about it and checked it out on my Tivo.

  13. Hi Jaxon, was the engine running when you experienced this, and do you recall if the green car with the arrows was lit (indicating the car was ready to drive)? Also do you recall the state of the battery when it occurred?

Do you think the engine may have been running (to charge the battery) when it was in the accessory position, buy the key was not fully turned to the start position?
