  1. I purchased a 2013 C-Max SEL (303A pkg) this past September with a little over 52,000 miles. I have dealer details of past service that gives me the feeling that the car was well taken care of.

Now with colder weather coming to Tenessee the heating unit is blowing warmer air into the cabin and I notice it wasn't switching to the floor vents. It only blows the air through the dash vents. When I raise the heat temperature it still flows only though the dash vents. Switching to manual push button 'floor vents' does nothing. Still blows from the dash vents.

I took it to my trusted Ford service dealer of 4 years for their advise and they tell me it is a 10 hour job to get into the dash and replace the housing unit. If I understood them completely the housing unit has all the air flow valves and is very complex and needs to be replaced. The cost is quoted at $1,663.72.  10 hours x $95/hr. labor and I assume the balance is the cost of the housing.

Does anyone have some advise for me to consider before I invest this amount of money? My wife thinks an extra pair of socks may work. Me, not so much....

  2. Our subscription runs out on 8/4/13. I called today and talked with John (yeah right, another country for sure) we went though all the high dollar offers, the last one coming down to $92 annual. I told him that was more than I wanted to pay and did he have any 6 month pricing. He came back with $24.99 for 5 months and I took it. It was $28.11 for 5  months when the smoke cleared.

    Thanks for the tips everyone.

  3. post-522-0-80075800-1374160311_thumb.jpgI brought my first car for $200 in 1962. It was my Junior year in high school. The 1941 Plymouth 4 door sedan had a 3 speed on the column and I remember putting a split manifold on the flat head six cylinder engine giving me the opportunity to install dual glass pack mufflers.

The picture here is not my actual car but one very much like it. Sweet memories...

  4. I got my 3.5.1 update today. Originally it didn't work properly and my tech took it back in the shop and spend another hour doing whatever. I went home and didn't even get settled at the house when I received a call from my tech telling me it 's working fine now and I could pick it up. He told me my system crashed and they had to reinstall it again. They also told me at the service desk that have only a few C-Maxes come though. Bottom line is I'm very happy with my half day investment and every thing is working fine now. I did refer them to our site.

  5. Welcome to the forum Joe. Rick & Val here and this is our first Hybrid as well. We've learned alot here in the last month and having a great time doing it. Have a little fun every day!

  6. They found the leak to be a result of two bolts loose on the the back cargo frame where the back hatch closes. This allowed water to run down and into the interior cabin. These two bolts are in vertical alignment and visible on the right side of the hatch frame when the back hatch is opened. It took our service tech at Bates Ford of Lebanon, TN two days of  seaching for the leak. He removed most of the interior and ran water all over the rear windows and back half of our C-Max. There was a celebration in the shop when he finally found the leak. They told me early on this tech was one of the best on interiors in this area and we are lucky to have him on our C-Max. It rained today and I took a long ride just to be sure everything is ok. (Hated getting my lil Red Wagon wet).

Case solved but you can bet I will watch for a long while.

By the way I'm getting over 41 mpg with a little over 100 total miles.

  7. Happy I found this forum! We picked up our new C-Max Monday. It is a Rudy Red SE with the 302A equipment package.

The next day I discovered water under the carpeting beneath the passenger’s seat. That's right where the tire air pump is located. It was soaked with water along with very damp carpet under it. We took it back to the dealership and they had to remove most of the interior to assure the carpet padding dried properly.

The dealership called today (Friday) declaring the problem had been solved and the carpet padding had dried properly and the interior had been reinstalled. Johnny our service rep said there was a bolt not tightened properly by the factory on the back upper back cargo door allowing rain water to gain entry. We’ve had a lot of heavy rain lately and our lil red wagon paid the price. I'm so glad I looked under the seat and discovered the moisture.

Needless to say we are excited to get new ride back and we are off to pick it up now. I hope to get more info regarding the leak.
