  1. I've started paying more attention since first having this problem. In my case, it *seems* to occur when I shift into reverse before the Borg collective approves, and displays the big message that it's OK to drive. The little green car on the lower right was lit, so I had assumed it was OK. But it sometimes takes a little while for the larger message to appear. If I don't wait for it, I get a check engine light, and the car won't respond. This seems a bit strange, because I had thought that it was impossible to shift out of Park until all systems were Go.
  2. Has happened to me once. Unfortunately, I wasn't paying enough attention to note precisely what I had done, so it may have been user error. I turned off the engine, then on again, and it worked fine. I think the check engine light was on when it happened.
  3. Does the CCA (cold cranking amp rating) make a difference in this case? My understanding is that the ICE is "started" by the big battery. The 12v battery is there for accessories (esp when the engine is off), and to close the relays that connect the big battery to the electric motor. It doesn't get the hard use that a conventional car gives it when starting in cold weather, so it doesn't need to be very big.
