I can offer you the Consumer Reports comparisons from 2013 to 2018 where owners have sent in data (to Consumers) on issues their respective cars have hit. The latest one I have showed 2017 as the best. It surprised me because the 2017 rated better than the 2018.

You could try identifying the breaker for the cruise control and the brake lights and pull the breaker(s) to see if it resets things. Somewhere on this site Plus3golfer put the breaker schematic so that might help. I may have saved it somewhere but I'd have to look. Sometimes pulling a breaker resets things.

My 2017 SE will have the radio on when I restart the car when I had it on when I stopped the car. It seems to assume that since I had the radio on when I stopped I wanted it on when I restarted it. I thought it was just a 'convenience' thing on the part of Ford. I remember now to hit the power button on the dash before I turn it off so it doesn't surprise me or, more importantly, my wife when the car is restarted.

I bought a silver 2017 SE Hybrid in March of 2020 with 16,600 miles for $14,500... Still had some warranty on it as well. Power seats, etc. $21.5k - wow. I have 19,000 on it now.

There are a lot of CMax components that are shared with the Ford Escape so you might check to see if the rear seats are the same.

The important date was Aug. 15th of 2015 for the transmission 'fix'.

Costco Mobil One: $4.95 a quart (6 quarts to the box). And, best of all, my local Ford dealer will allow us to bring our oil for us for oil changes! So I have both our C-Maxs on Mobil One. Usually go a year between changes. Gas is $2.35 at the same Costco... 1.5 miles from our house.

I have a 2016 SE with no back up camera but do have a 2017 with one... The camera should activate when you put the car in reverse. I don't know of anyway to turn it on or off otherwise.

Another thank you to Plus 3. I've saved it for future reference. I'd advise others who have any battery concerns to save this since this site has gone down before and given the situation with the C-Max it might disappear tomorrow with no notice.

What year is your Energi? If I think ANYTHING is a bit weird I ask my dealer rep to put it in the service record. It's come back to helping me get warranty work done for free twice now.

The older versions of Sync can be frustrating to work with - the 2017 version is better than the 2014 or 15 (I have a 2016 - built in 2015 - and a 2017). The 2017 has a backup camera (SE model), better seats, better sound system than the 2016. Consumer Reports shows fewer issues in the 2017 compared to the 2015.

My old Garmin GPS (with lifetime map updates including Canada & Mexico) continues to be easily updated (via my laptop) and moves from car to car. My wife and I know how to use it almost without thinking. I think I paid around $100 (2012).

I had codes (can't remember which one) on my 2004 Ford Focus ZTW Wagon and had a dealer and 2 other garages throw parts (various sensors and an idle control valve) at it until someone on-line said to use Lucas Upper Cylinder Lubricant /injector cleaner and it worked! I had used Chevron Techron and it cleared the code but only for 2-4 weeks before it re-appeared. The Lucas stuff worked and it didn't come back on. I spent $900 on parts and labor and it was the only thing that worked.

You need to find out what 'trim group' you car is. Ideally if you could find the original sticker with all the features listed... Is there an original manual coming with it? Sometimes you can look up the VIN and see if you can find out more there.

No responses seem to suggest it doesn't occur very much... I haven't heard of anyone mentioning that on-line and that environment tends to attract more issues than compliments. Seems to be the same for the Prius as well - rare anyone talks about a dead HVB.

I'll wait for a sale on cabin filter replacement from my dealer (yes, they have them annually) and let them deal with it. I had a 2004 Focus Wagon ZTW and never saw the need to replace the cabin filter but when the sale came I thought it was worth it (like $41) and brought it in. They called a couple of hours later and said it would take more time than usual: there wasn't a cabin air filter in my car and there wasn't even the housing for it in my car! Apparently, it was never put in during production. They had to get the housing, and install it and then the filter. They said it would be $41 just the same and apologized for the production error. Before and after having a filter vs no filter I never noticed any difference.

Had my first warranty claim on our 2017 C-Max (still under warranty under miles and months) for a dead LED running light in the headlight display. Ford approved it in less than an hour and it was done the next day. They replace the whole front headlight - $1,500 retail new. First time I've had a Ford warranty claim.

I got a 'User Suspended' yesterday and tried to reply... Today nothing. Are we looking at the demise of this forum? I wish they'd be up front and tell us if they have money issues hosting. The Energi forum didn't...
