  1. Some interesting tidbits in this report, including the following:

C-MAX Hybrid customers are also far more likely to load up their vehicles:

    • Vehicles equipped with technology packages on C-MAX Hybrid move off dealer lots three times faster than those without
    • 27 percent of C-MAX customers get the panoramic fixed-glass roof
    • More than three out of four customers choose the hands-free liftgate
    •
  2. I have the light interior with black mats. I think it looks great with the black on the doors.

Me too, with the OEM black rubber mats.I Not quite as elegant as some, but they can be removed and hosed off. Definitely an advantage during mud season.

  3. OK, I forgot.

How do you find out what release date your car has?

Took mine in yesterday, told dealer to do the TSB 13-3-11.  Claimed they did, but I can't detect anything has changed.

At least one way is online at the www.syncmyride.com web site. For me, clicking the tab "Account Settings" shows the following report:

    SYNC Version

    Gen2 - V3.5.1icon_checkbox.pngDA5T-14D546-BB

    icon_checkbox.pngDA5T-14D546-DB

    icon_checkbox.pngDA5T-14F496-AH

    icon_checkbox.pngDA5T-14F497-AJ

    icon_checkbox.pngDA5T-14F657-AK

My car was built on 3/13, and also has the A4 version of maps. No problems so far.

  4. Retired, then you must remember the dark ages of dumb terminals.

    Guess what I'm holding...right NOW.

    A WYSE Rx0L (no processor).

And if I squint at "the cloud" I see a Mainframe in the sky.

Back to the WYSE...it was manufactured in 2011.

    wab

Dumb terminals? Gosh, I remember punch cards and--yes--even paper tape. On those days when my memory functions at all.  :)

  5. Which brings up a question.

Why can't you write some software that will TEST each and every possible thing or combination of things the updated/new software is supposed to do?

    wab

Ha! And why can't we have world peace, too?

But seriously, software testing is a huge endeavor and corporations spend an enormous amount of resources on it, but in many cases, testing for "every combination of things" would be beyond imaginable. Test for the smarphone with no contacts. Test for the smartphone with 1 contact only...text for the salesman's phone with 20,000 contacts. Oh wait, this is supposed to work for all the different models of the iPhone! And it's supposed to work for Android phone, too? And WIndows? And Nokia? Already millions of combinations. And that's just one little piece of what the software handles. Oh, my gosh, shoot me now!

(From a now retired software person.)

  6. I have SEL with camera and sensors. I was pleasantly surprised when a lady walked in back of me as I was ready to reverse, and the beeping went crazy. I had assumed it was only sensitive to metal.

Yes, I believe the sensors use ultrasound, which detects an obstruction of any type, good if you're worried about kids or pets (or a lady) being in back!

The SEL with 302A package also comes with a rear vision camera, which will display a rear view on the screen. And the 303A package not only has this, but also has forward facing sensors (which I believe are only active at very slow speeds--otherwise, they'd always be beeping).

My car's not here yet, so this is based on the web site & user manual. In another 9 days hope to confirm at least the 302A information!

  7. I picked up a $5.00 stylus at Walgreens for Rainette. Love it. My kids have the usb adaptors that go in the cig lighter plugs. $5.00. Cannot beat that.

    http://www.google.com/search?q=walgreens+stylus+pen&hl=en&client=safari&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=03k-UejQIseg2AXnooDQCg&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ&biw=320&bih=356#biv=i%7C21%3Bd%7CQPjK1ru-bodeFM%3A

Excuse my ignorance, since my car is still on order, but do you feel you need a stylus because the touch screen targets are awkward to hit with a finger, maybe a bit too small? Thanks!

  8. Finally got the window sticker today!!

It is a sterling gray SEL with 302A package ordered on 1/8/2013.

The sticker shows a build date of 3/15/2013.

It should be here just in time for spring weather. :happy feet:

Not sure I understand how the scheduling works, but my similar car (Candy Blue SEL with 302A), ordered on Feb. 1, is scheduled to be built next Tuesday, 3/12. Ordered 3 weeks later, being built 3 days earlier. Hmmm, sorry ceemax71, hope this doesn't add to the image of we New Yorkers being pushy!

  9. Model: C-Max SEL with 302A option package & panoramic roof

    Ordered: Feb. 1, 2013

Delivery anticipated: March 22, 2013; now estimated March 25  April 2

VIN available: Got it March 5 (late, dealer emailed to wrong addr)

    Window Sticker available: Yes

    Build Date: March 12, 2013

    Actual Delivery: March 28

Based on some of the other posts here, it looks like the March 22 promised delivery date is pretty optimistic!

(But turned out to be only 6 days off.)

  10. Got it, installed easily, works fine. Very low profile - hitch fits entirely behind the bumper, only the (1 1/4") receiver is visible. Works with kick-activated liftgate opening, but I think the sensitivity is a bit reduced. No impact on rear proximity sensors (unless you have your bike rack mounted of course).

Do you by any chance have the rear vision camera? If so, is it affected either way, rack on or off?

  11. When it's just me, I'll plan to carry my bike inside my C-Max (still on order). But on occasion, it would be good to carry multiple bikes, and I wonder if anyone here has had any experience with the Torklift "ecohitch" for a trailer-hitch mounted rack. It's shown here:

    http://torkliftcentral.com/ecohitch_cmax.php

I already have a Thule trailer-hitch rack for the car that's being traded in, and would still like to be able to use it.

  12. Recently ordered a Blue Candy SEL, scheduled for delivery toward the end of March. Seems like there is a definite shortage of these vehicles at the moment. The closest Ford dealer to us did not have any at all, so we had to go further afield to actually see and test drive one in person. I guess that's a good sign?

It will replace a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica which was a good car for us, but getting long in the tooth, too big for us now, and hard-pressed to beat 20 mpg.

Looking forward to the CMAX's arrival.

    Alan
