  1. Wingrider, we had ours done this week along with an oil change, tire rotation, 23 point inspection, battery test, brake test ............... 1.5 hours.  Checked in at 9:30 am, checked out at 11:00 am.  (So quick, I am inquiring to be sure they actually did all of the above - wish I had marked the tires)  The 13C07, Reprogram Instrument Cluster was first, and showed itself to me after pick up, in that I had to reset my personal preferences for the driver dash gauges:  enhanced trip, my view, right display.....     Nick

PS  A nice 4 page report and really great service !!!

time is not my friend during the day, I work a 1:30 PM to 9:30 PM patrol so I budget daytime hours carefully, will call dealer and see if they know for sure

  2. I received my recall notice for the chime issue today. However, my Smart Start car chimes if I accidentally forget to push that button while exiting my car. It's saved me major headaches many times. My question, despite reading that my VIN showed a problem, I don't think I have one. Any comments? Thanks.

mine works on and off, right now it is working but will take care in for the recall just to get it off the list. Better safe then sorry

  3. CR collects a lot of data points from their subscribers and I think the MFT problems hit the C-Max especially hard leading to this rating, although I don't know why the Energi got picked except with its fewer sales it probably had the higher per capita score.

key word "subscribers" - NOT subscribers that actually own the product in question. Would not trust anything that that rag has published, many years back when I did trust them they reported the car seat I paid a lot of money for when my daughter needed one failed all the tests, not withstanding that the NHSTA passed it with flying colors, I trusted them and got rid of it - a month latter it was reported in the news that CR used the wrong testing requirements for the seats and they withdrew the article. A CR report and "survey" is only good for one thing - lining the bottom a bird cage - if the bird agrees

  4. All this gibberish about Ford`s reluctance to add this or that so called safety feature or not depending on which (27) States that have Laws and Statutes that mandate or prohibit different items.  What about the level of Tint used in their Fleet of Passengers Cars and different Laws pertaining to Trucks and SUV`s?  Is that the reason Ford refuses to make Daytime Running Lights, DRL`s standard equipment and only available for Fleet Purchase too?  How do other Manufacturers deal with these issues since they sell their Vehicles in the same States?

Level of tint is easy - 0 for the front windshield below 3 inches from the top, 35 percent on the front 2 windows, any darkness on the back windows and doors here, but there are 49 other laws to pay attention to, the is no law in and of the states the US that requires DRL so the choice is up to the manufacturer unless the car is sold or shipped to Canada which does require DRL

  5. You are correct.  They don't come on when set to auto sense.

It not designed to operate the headlamps in internittent/delay or as you call it.  Auto Sense mode.

They come on with the wiper switch set to low or high with the headlamp switch set to autolamp mode..

     Again.......... Read the SSM.

2012-2013 Focus and 2013 C-Max and Escape vehicles equipped with the Rain Light feature will not work with the wiper switch set to intermittent/delay mode by design. This feature will only work when the wiper switch is set to the low or high speed settings during daylight operation, and the headlamp switch set to Autolamp mode with a 5 to 10 second delay before headlamps/park lamps turn on. After the wiper switch is turned off, the lamps will remain on for approximately 5 to 10 seconds.

I realize exactly what you are saying, if you reread my replay I state that I understand it and it is exactly what I stated, the problem is, to utilize this functionality in 27 states and it is a moving violation - that is the issue, wipers are continuously moving as if they where on low or high by law in 27 states that headlights are required to be on. a caveat to this little blurb of information is to state that utilized the option will violate traffic laws in your state. Lets be honest - 99.9 percent of new car owners never open the owners manual. With the exception of this feature everything else fits within the traffic code.

  6.

    Per Ford:

    SSM 12063 - 2012-2013 Focus 2013 C-Max, Escape - Rain Light - Proper Operation

2012-2013 Focus and 2013 C-Max and Escape vehicles equipped with the Rain Light feature will not work with the wiper switch set to intermittent/delay mode by design. This feature will only work when the wiper switch is set to the low or high speed settings during daylight operation, and the headlamp switch set to Autolamp mode with a 5 to 10 second delay before headlamps/park lamps turn on. After the wiper switch is turned off, the lamps will remain on for approximately 5 to 10 seconds.

As of April 2010, Alabama, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia have wipers on, lights on laws

interesting, will set mine to off for the auto sense wipers, kind of  a major issue in the above states, guess ford did not to their research to well on traffic law compliance

  7. "You never get a second chance to make a first impression"

Thousands of potential Ford customers will never consider Ford because the news is out that Ford lied about the gas mileage of the C-Max.  Period.  Those are lost sales that Ford will never win back.

There is nothing more valuable to a company than its reputation.  Ford should have considered this very seriously before deciding to "stretch the truth" about the gas mileage of the C-Max.

they made their first impression on me back in 1972, it has not changed so I still drive the brand, both personally and for work

  8. No signature? That's not good. We've had stuff swiped from our porch before.

Signature or no signature required it does not matter, have had 2,000.00 worth of computer parts dropped on my porch by FedEx and was signature required and have NEWEGG in 24 point type on all sides of the box

  9. Been driving and leasing fords since 1972, I may whine about the unfulfilled promises on the c-max but I will never desert ford for a lot of reasons, the primary one being they never took the dole bailout but stood on their own. I respect that and if I actually got rid of my c-max it would be for another ford, I won;t let the department car go since it is currently a ford and the replacement is a chevy. I don;t do foreign SDT's no matter what. they can pry my ford from my cold dead hands.

  10. The A/C unit is an electric pump. All pumps make noise while pumping ;)  As for the dealer checking the oil level,

that's a B/S statement. The only way to check oil level is to drain the oil in the compressor and capture the rest from the

Freon and measure them together.  Not gonna happen. I really doubt they even checked it. It's easiest to compare it

to another unit like they did. Showing the customer proof is the best way to resolve a NON issue, issue. Otherwise, they'll

always have doubts and continue to pursue the noise as a problem. Happy Motoring :love_shower:

true they make some noise, but when they sound like a weed whacker that can be head in the cabin of the car and by the people in the car next to you there is an issue. Took it into the dealer, dealer fork lifted the A/C per tech, replaced and no noise anymore

  11. 7.01 was the update for the iPhone 5s.

    http://mashable.com/2013/09/20/apple-fixing-multiple-ios-7-bugs-already/

Also, if anyone doesn't know, make sure you enable Notifications under the Bluetooth>Sync settings to get the MFT to read your incoming texts for you :)

Nice they are fixing the hacks for the 5S and 5C and ignoring that 2 of the 3 hacks also affect every other iphone that got updated with that upgrade. Glad I only updated the Ipad and left my phone on 6, the one that I have all my banking and financial apps

  12. Tested both 5s' today on IOS 7.0.1 and haven't had any issues.  As for Siri, I haven't had any issues with it and MFT.  I hold down the home button for a couple of seconds and wait for the tone through the Sync system. I state my request and it updates.  It doesn't display on the screen, yet it seems to always do what I need it to.

7.01? No updates available on Apple, no indications in the new that there was a new update made to the IOS 7, what carrier do you have?

  13. Looks like I will be getting mine tormorrow.  It doesn't mention that signature is required for mine.  I guess we will see since FedEx delivers when I am not home.

Where did you get the tracking information?

  14. I'm saying the A3 and A4 card are not identical. There are updates, but that doesn't mean it's 100% accurate everywhere.

the errors for roads that have been re-routed, exits and entrances to the highways that have been closed or opened that where done 5 years ago where on A3, the same exact errors are on the A4. would have thought they would have made sure that entrances and exits to major interstates that where moved or closed when they rebuilt 25 miles of the interstate would have been included in the A4 build, heck they should have been on the A3 set.

  15. The new card does have more up to date information, but if what you are seeing has been fixed in the new card who knows.  I suppose someone w/ the updates could try to find a street or something on the map you are wondering about to see if it contains newer info for your area.

Have a street here that has been one way to the east for about 20 years, it has been reported to the various gps manufacturers and even with A4 it tell you to turn west on the street

  16. You can send, but only preset messages.  I have found that if I hold down the button on my Iphone 4S, Siri will come up and talk to me through the car speakers, and I can text handfree through her intervention.

every time I try to enable that it tells me I don;t have a supported device, but I do hear the incoming

  17. The customer can use a flash drive to do the update if the C-Max was produced after 2/5/13 because it came from the factory with version 3.51.

The customer cannot use a flash drive to do the update if it was produced on or before 2/5/13.

However, if it was produced on or before 2/5/13 and the dealer has done the FSA 13A01 update to Sync version 3.51, then you should be able to do the update to 3.62 using a flash drive.

uuum no - car came with 3.1.3 installed from the factory when it was built in mid 2012, dealer upgraded it to 3.5.1 when it finally was released for the C-Max, asked the dealer to do it, wsa told they can't, downloaded it and popped the USB drive into the slot, it loaded 3.6.2 without a glitch,  updated SyncMyRide with the successful installation

  18. This might not mater much longer.

One of our larger suburbs just passed an ordinance.

ZERO texting, Zero tolerance while operating a motor vehicle, red lights/stop signs included.

It is a stoppable offense with a increasing fine for multiple offenders here and as of Jan 01 2014 utilizing a cell phone with out hands free will also become a stoppable offense with the same increasing fine for multiple offenders

  19.

According to the information on the download the initial update (that could be installed by the user) was called 3.6.

     Microsoft Windows Automotive
    ;         USB Installation Directive File
    ;         3.6 (13171) Update from:
    ;         10308,10337,11038,11063,11081,11134
    ;         12023,12047,12058,12156,12285
    ;         Other versions not supported
    ;         autoinstall.lst (NA)

Now an update labeled 3.6.2 is available and according to the Ford website this update must be installed by the dealer.

by ford website do you mean etis or ford owners site? Don;t have it on either
