  1. My 2017 F250 had it from the factory. The 2016 CMax did not. From what I read looking into this, the 2017 model year seemed to have the ability from the factory. 2016's needed both a Sync software update and the hardware update (the hub). There were a lot of comments on the various sites I researched asking about 2015 and older and the answer seemed to be the fix above would not work, so those must have some other hardware issues that would need to be addressed as well.
  2. II have not heard anything on that matter of wireless access to carplay. I could be it being on the road map as they are now offering wireless charging in more and more vehicles. For me, having to plug in, is not an issue. It allows the phone to charge, and the car has two ports. I have a cable plugged in at all times for the phone, and a USB drive with my music on it in the other slot.
  3. I'd throw out there, don't. Booster packs are cheap these days, and designed for the task, and if something goes wrong, you're only out 20-50 bucks, compares to the potential damage to the on board computer on your car.
  4. F67 7.5 Amp "Cell phone passport (C-MAX Energi), Multi-function display, GPS module, Sync." Pulled this one, waited about 5 minutes then put it back and the issue in no longer present. Time will tell if it comes back.
  5. Two weeks ago, I purchased a used 2016 C-Max Energi. Over the following week I had been exploring the various features, and had begun ti use the My Ford Mobil app on my phone, to both pull data from the car (fuel level, battery charge, charging status and completion time, ect.) as well as pushing the Go Time schedule to the car (never really did figure out how that works yet). Over the weekend I tried to pull up information on the car, and got an Update Failed message from the app. I have gotten this error on each attempt since. From some google searching I have seen various answers from pulling certain fuses (the numbers given in posts do not seem to line up with the 2016 C-Max), to disconnecting the 12V battery, all the way to replacing a modem on earlier units (I doubt my 2016 was built with a 2G modem). Anyone seen this Update Failed issue? Have a definitive fix? Thank you.
  6. I should note in the above, the are upgrading a flex, but the face plate design in nearly identical to the C-Max. I hope this helps others.
  7. Okay, after a bit of research, and a few youtube videos found that for Android Auto, it is just an upgrade of Sync3 to v3. but for Apple Carplay, it requires a hardware change for the USB hub. The replacement part (2017+part I guess you would call it) is HC3Z-19A387-B. I was able to buy this online for $46 and Change (about $57 shipped). The video below details the process, it really was a 5 minute job to swap the hub:
  8. Thank you, I will check out that link. Can you expand on what is SOC? I live in Michigan, so high temps are only a concern a few months a year (and realistically our 90 degree days are not as bad as the Southwest). This week, the heated seats and electric heat are getting used.
  9. Just purchased a 2016 Energi, and so far am really happy with it. I'm looking for hints, or tips on how to get the most out of the car, without damaging anything. MY wife's commute to work is a few miles on city streets to the highway, then about 10 miles on the highway, and finally a few miles on city streets to her office. WE have found that by plugging the car in overnight to charge (level 1) the battery, she can use EV now to the highway, then EV later while on the highway, and then switch to EV now for the final drive to the office. She is able to reverse the steps on the way home, and parks in the garage with a few (4 today) miles of EV range left. We then plug the car in, to prep for evening errands, before pluging it in overnight to start the process over. This is great, and the mileage numbers are wonderful, but I am concerned in what I have read if this will have a long term impact on the HVB? Is this a driving habit that will lead to degradation? Are their areas of this usage profile that we should revise? Thank for any information you can provide.
  10. So by using the install hack listed in the earlier thread, I have been able to get the version to now show as v3, but have no option for Car Play or Android Auto. Again, can anyone confirm they have been able to access Apple Car Play?
  11. Hello. New 2016 C-max owner here. Purchased the car yesterday, and after getting it home was disappointed to see that Apple Car Play, was not an option. I have this on my 2017 F250, and it is a great feature. In poking around it seems the car has Sync 3, v 1.0 installed. I am working on getting the v3 upgrade installed, but wanted to confirm that with v3, Car Play would b an option? I do see there is an older post from a few months ago, that mentions needing the edit the auto install file to get this to run, and that it did allow Android Auto (so I assume Car Play as well). I may have to try that hack, as last night attempt was not a success (It was getting late, so I called it a night, maybe when I start it later today it will be there). They do not make this software easy to update. Thank you all in advance for any confirmation, or additional tips on the upgrade. I'm sure I will have lots of other questions about getting the best out of this car in the future.
