  1. Would this work for sending "video" from smartphone? I use audio bluetooth to pick up the free GPS built into my phone, but of course that just sends the audio, not the map that shows on the phone.
  2. Since I have both a 12 volt charger and, obviously, a 110 volt phone charger, is there a difference in the draw that the two systems make on the car battery? That is, since I have both, is there one I should use as a matter of routine?
  3. Looking on the web it appears that sliding armrests are an option on some British C Max models. Obviously they're not hybrids but that shouldn't affect center armrest tops. I wonder if these would fit an American C Max as a replacement. Anyone have any info. or experience with this?
  4. Although I love the C-Max, one feature I don't love is the center console/arm rest. We've got a Honda Civic where the arm rest cover of the center console can slide forward. This moves the cover sufficiently forward so I can rest my right arm on it while driving. I can't do that on the C-Max. Are there any accessories (or other work-arounds) that would let me either move the console cover forward as on the Honda Civic, or allow me to attach some type of addition at the front end? Thanks!
  5. Yes, I'm asking about audio and steering wheel controls of the radio on a base, non-MFT model.
  6. Can I control the car radio from the steering wheel SYNC controls? I believe I can control radio over my cellphone by using Bluetooth Audio, but is there a way to control the car's radio from the steering wheel or do I need to use the push buttons on the center console? We have a base model without MFT, backup camera, or anything else. Thanks!
  7. We've had our C Max about 3 weeks and are on our first extended road trip. So I really like the way it drives. I'm getting about 37 mpg which I regard as OK for the initial period. Today, however, we had a very unsettling experience. We were driving down the Natchez Trace, about ten miles from the end in Natchez, when we pulled onto a side road to see a large Indian mound. My wife took some pictures from the car and then we headed on to Natchez. Once we got back on the main road and accelerate, probably only to about 50 mph, the car started making a thumping noise that seemed to be coming from the rear.. It's the type of noise I'd associate with a flat tire but it didn't feel like a flat tire. I thought maybe a branch was caught under the car, pulled over to the side and found nothing. I immediately thought something was wrong with the battery, but all the gauges were normal and I was getting no warnings. Luckily, it was still afternoon on a weekday, so I drove straight to the Ford dealer in Natchez. Along the way I realized the rear left window was open (and I'd probably opened it inadvertently when I opened the window for my wife to take pictures.) When I closed the window the thumping went away, but it returned when I reopened it. When I got to the Ford dealer, the salesperson laughed and said he's had the same thing on a number of Ford models. With the window open and the air circulation system operating it sets up something in the air circulation flow in the car and makes that noise. He also said it makes his wife light-headed and my wife said the same thing! So, at least for now, everything is cured and car seems to be running fine. This is the first I've heard of anything like this. Does anyone have any comparable experiences? Does it sound like something else that needs attention?
  8. Yeah, there's something in the owner's manual about how the car learns your common destinations and switches to all EV for the last part of the trip. Sounds like the car learns its way home. Never had anything like this before!
  9. The owners manual discuses a break in period for the C Max. Most of the discussion I've seen has been about measuring the mileage for the first few thousand miles. The manual also talks about not driving too fast during break in, but doesn't indicate what too fast would be, or how long the break in period is for this purpose. It also talks about avoiding steep hills with heavy loads. We've got about 400 miles on our car and are planning on a road trip starting next week. What recommendations do any of you have about speed on the interstate? I might be going through some areas with 75 mph limits, although not until after I've travelled about 1000 miles. But what about the 70 mph interstates I'll be on before that? I'll also be driving through the Ozarks so there will be some steep hills. It'll be me and my wife and a couple of weeks worth of luggage. Does this constitute steep hills with heavy loads? I also won't hit this part until after we've gone about 1000 miles. Any advice? Thanks!
  10. For those of you who like old jokes, "Why is cleaning your car like the phases of the moon?" Answer (ideally in a Bugs Bunny voice) - After waxing, it wanes.
  11. I've had our C Max for about a month and need to go to a car wash to get rid of winter salt accumulations. I was wondering whether to get a wash that incudes the underside. I have typically done this at the end of the winter on all my cars. The owner's manual, which only has instructions for washing the car yourself as far as I can see, does mention washing the underside. The service manager at the dealership where I bought the car, however, says he never recommends washing the underside of any car because of various sensors that might be affected. I wonder whether this issue is any different for hybrids. Any insights? Thanks!
