  1. I have a C-Max Energi, Manufacture date 12-13-12, and I have been getting the lost tracking errors on the GPS. Last week, I got the latest MFT sowftware update and had the dealer do the TSB 13-3-11 to reflash the GPS, hoping that would fix it. My service rep mentioned something about there might be a problem with using an iPhone and having too many contacts or contacts that contain emoticons or "funny characters". So I deleted my phone from MFT and re-connected it without downloading contacts. The Nav tracking is still off. It shows up very clearly when I go through a tunnel, bridge, or other obstruction to the sky - the tracking seems to slow or stop, then start up again when in clear sky. So, if I go through a 1/4 mile tunnel, I will pop out on the other side, with tracking off by 1/8 mile or so, lagging in the direction of travel. The phone had nothing to do with interfering with the GPS nav. I will be bringing the car in to have them replace the GPS Module and see if that fixes it.
  2. Hi all - I just did a quick test with a DMM on our Energi today. Last night, after driving for the day, the 12v battery was at 12.42 v, this morning, the voltage was at 12.23. That, after replacing a blown 20A fuse for the 12v center console accessory ports that went out the day our battery died a week ago. Odd thing is, we had had no accessories plugged in when it blew. I'll look for a suitable cap to cover the 12v port inside the cosole when not in use. With the DMM still attached, I hit the push-button to start the car, and the volatge immediately jumped to 14.6 volts. So it definitley charges from the HV batt whenever the car is on. I'll have to try it with a depleted HV battery to check out if that holds true for a battery-depleting trip. Then, I shut the car down, and voltage dropped to 12.3 v (only on for less than a minute), then plugged the car in. No change in voltage. So, confirmed that the 12v battery does NOT charge and is completely disconnected from the HV battery when the Enegi is plugged in and charging. So, yes, the Energi can be susceptable to the dead battery syndrome, and plugging in at night won't help. I also verified that the 12v center console accessory ports do indeed power down after the battery save time has elapsed. So I'm not so sure we can use those ports to hop (jump) the car if the 12v batt is dead. I can't turn an ignition switch to activate the accessory ports - only a push button. And the only "always on" 12v port is in the rear, which won't open if the 12v is dead. Have to open the hood.
  3. Hi MikeB, I'm the one that had the 12v die in an Energi. I'm not so sure the 12v charges when the HV battery is charging when plugged in. I'll be doing some tests over the weekend to check it out. But one thing is clear - the day it died, the car had been used for several short trips, in cold weather, neccisitating using the climate system, and headlights at night. Oh! and the 12v accessory ports were all dead after we got the car back from service at the dealer. It's usually driven at least 300 miles/week.
  4. Yes - Oakland, CA We did our purchase through Walnut Creek Ford b/c they got much better Yelp ratings. They have been very responsive. We had a nasty squeak coming from the Energi HV battery compartment and the dealer dismantled the car almost to the frame to put in some insulation to remove the squeak. I will be following up with them on the 12v battery issue, to be sure, and my experience so far is that they will treat me very well.
  5. We have an Energi, and plug the car in every night to recharge the main HV battery. But we had the 12v battery die last weekend at 3 months and 3500 miles. The battery was replaced by the dealer and all is almost well now. I noticed that I have no power to the 12v accessory ports, and will try to hunt down the fuse this weekend where I won't get stranded if the battery dies. I think it is interesting to note on the statement from Dearborn "Some Cmax owners may experience battery discharge problems if they drive short distances with high electrical loads (such as ... using the climate control system)". So, if its cold, we shouldn't use the heater - wear a down parka, and use a rag to defrost the windows instead? I'll be buying a portable 12v starter this weekend. And start reporting issues to Ford corporate. My wife was so upset about getting stranded on the wrong side of town on a cold night with a car that wouldn't lock, she is hoping it will keep failing so we can get our money back through our state lemon laws - but I actually like the C-Max :-(
  6. Just joined the group. On December 26, we picked up the C-Max Energi plug-in with all the options that we ordered in October. This last Sunday, March 3, with 3500 miles on the car, it was completely dead. My daughter was in a bad part of Oakland, and it was a real safety concern. You could not lock the doors, and seedy looking criminal types walking the streets late at night. Roadside assistance came within the hour and they could not jump the car. They recommended a tow, but had the wrong truck, so my daughter had to wait another hour for the correct truck to come. Two hours in the wrong part of Oakland late at night with a car that won't lock its doors is a real safety issue! Anyway, Roadside Assistance towed the car to the dealer the next day. They tested and replaced the battery, and also found the high-voltage connector under the hood not quite seated properly. They reseated the High-Voltage connector, and I picked it up the next day upon returning from a business trip. We will get a portable jump charger, and start checking the 12v battery voltage on a weekly basis just to be sure. And call Ford Corporate to report the issue.
