  1. I have to agree, there should be spare and they should have found a means and a way. Subaru use to put them in the engine compartment above the engine on some models, maybe they still do. Guess with all the other problems they figure a spare is the least of our worries, did I just say that!
  2. So why does the temperatures affect MPG so much? Some things that come to mind: 1. If you want cabin heat the engine will have run more. 2. The lithium battery does not function as well in cold temperature. What else could cause such a MPG fluctuation.
  3. Nice, I would like DRL's also. If its only $45 dollars that must mean there is a $5 dollar relay that you can plug in somewhere. Who has a shop manual that can research this?
  4. Not all infant car seats are the same size but the one we have we can still move the passenger seat all the way back and still not touch the car seat. One of the reasons we picked the C-Max, great rear leg room and we have lots of grand-kids.
  5. I would like to carry a spare but it would have to be the exact size diameter of the stock wheel. The traction and stability control would think the vehicle is out of control and go crazy trying to correct itself if it where not.
  6. I had one of the plastic covers that is under the car almost directly below the driver missing a bolt. It would make a slapping noise when hitting bumps and sometimes vibrate at highway speeds. There are many possibilities for rattles. Try to isolate where its coming from and then start looking for something loose or rubbing.
  7. The mistake I made when trying to adjust the rear hatch and actually thought I had it fixed was that after locking the car you have to wait about 10 seconds for the computer to arm the alarm. If you try the kick before that 10 seconds it only take one kick. After that 10 seconds it takes the two kick. Not sure what Ford needs to do to fix this, hardware or software problem, or maybe they feel this is a safety feature so the hatch won't open while driving down the road.
  8. I kind of thought that would be the case. Did you look at another C-Max to see what it looked like? My dealer did not have another C-Max with the rear camera on the lot. In my opinion it does not need to be HD to be clear but I think maybe its the wide angle lens, kind of a fish eye that gives it that blurry look. Thanks for the reply.
  9. That's an interesting idea but the fact is many newer cars already have that feature. My 2011 Jeep has a gauge that show's the optimal fuel and power level. Like the C-max it is a painfully slow acceleration to keep it in the optimal range. What I would like to see is a button on the steering that would automatically accelerate the car at the optimal fuel/power savings. Its just to hard to try and feather the gas pedal, watch the gauge and the road at the same time and it gets old after a while.
  10. Make sure you get everything on the invoice, especially items marked "DLR INSTALLED". Mobility kit (air compressor) under passenger seat. Any cosmetic damage, dings, chips. All owners manuals. Have fun with your new car, they are great!
  11. OK, thanks, let me know what U find out.
  12. I wish it was that simple, first thing I checked if it was dirty or plastic cover from factory left on. Just want to know what other have before I take apart to see if there is a focus ring to adjust. Its not to bad but feel it could be a bit sharper than it is, I tend to be a perfectionist sometimes.
  13. I have a quick question for you C-Max owners. My rear camera looks a little out of focus to me and seems it could be sharper. How does yours look?
  14. The two kicks to open the rear hatch was one of my little annoyances with my C-Max. Whether it was locked or unlocked it usually took two stabs to open. This was a simple adjustment that I performed the second day I owned the C-Max and now always open with one kick. The two rubber bumpers on the underside of the rear hatch are adjusted all the way out from the factory and need to be adjusted in. To gain access to the adjusting screws the plastic caps have to be removed. I slid a putty knife under one side and they popped right off. Next loosen the screw (star bit) and slide the bumper back half way, about 1/4 inch should do it. Now when the hatch opens you here the motor release the lock and it rises, no more pop and stall. Update on this post: I think I spoke to soon, the wife says it still takes two kicks when its locked to open the rear hatch. Since the C-Max is her main drive I thought it was fixed. Looks to be something other than an adjustment.
  15. Greetings all C-Max owners! We have had our C-Max for about three weeks now. We looked at most of the hybrids out there and came close to buying a Prius. Then we stumbled apon the C-Max at the dealer not even knowing they existed yet. Sitting on the showroom floor was a fully loaded White Platinum with leather white stone seats and it was love at first sight. After a test drive my wife and I had to have it. After three road trips and a little over one thousand miles we love it even more. We live over 5000 feet in moutainous terrain and our average MPG has been 42.5 even with the cold temperatures so we are very happy with that and figure it can only get better with warm weather. I have seen a lot of complaints about the Sync but ours has performed flawlessly, my wife even added a picture of all the grandkids to the nav screen. -Jim
