Sync is a factory-installed, integrated in-vehicle communications and entertainment system and has nothing to do with car operations so it is not the going to effect mileage. There are other software updates that could effect mileage but not Sync.

Ford does not offer free maintenance. They offer to sell it to you but I don't think it is a very good deal. I have a 2012 Ford Fusion with 27k miles on it. To date I have spent about $150. on maintenance and I'm over doing it. If I went by the cars oil change computer it needs service around every 10k miles. I am having the oil changed, tires rotated and full car inspection (The Works) done every 5k miles. At 20k they checked air filters and said they were fine. I expect the 30k service to be a little more but not enough to worry about it. The Works cost $40 at my dealer but they are always sending coupons for discounts or rebates. After years of owning a European car I'm astonished at the low cost of ownership.

Adair, my '12 Fusion with Sync has an Aux button. I think the '13 C-Max's equivalent is the USB button. Both select the USB drive.

Sure. My Fusion is gas only and it works just fine. It doesn't have MFT and I miss that.

That's amazing Matt. I can get that kind of mileage occasionally but not on a regular basis. Then again most of my miles are on the interstate system in and around Atlanta.

So all these boasts of high mpg and 600 mile tanks need an * beside them noting premium fuel, right? Where I live premium costs about 8.67% more.

Where are you hearing this? From the manual... C-MAX full hybrid vehicles are equipped with an information displaywhich indicates the proper oil change service interval; the interval is upto one year or 10000 miles (16000 kilometers)

"Home" is a label like any other, and some people have multiple numbers at home.

Check out page 71 of the Owners manual. There is two stage unlocking.

I think this is because your phone is set up for multiple numbers for one contact (home, work , mobile, etc.) so it asks which one you want, even if you are only using one entry for that contact.

Oh, and Sync "maven" has a name, it is Samantha. ...and I've been calling her Suzy. No wonder she's upset. :doh:

Engineer comment is funny. A friend of mine whose daily drive is a Ford F-250 was at a Ford dealership the week after I told him I bought a C-Max. He asked the Sales Rep to show him a C-Max because his friend in another state bought one. The Rep asked him if I was a Professor or an IT Geek 'cause that's who is buying them. ;)

So the EPA was suppose to re-test, or in their case, test the C-Max themselves. If Ford followed the EPA guidelines you would expect the EPA to get the same results.

Thanks for the suggestion. Mine was set to 'On" too.

There is a pretty audible clunk when the doors lock. The turn signal indicator on the drivers exterior mirror will flash. If you are still not convinced try to open the drivers side rear door. It should be locked and will not open.
