What a trip ScubaDadMiami! I recently drove from Southwest Virginia to Miami and back. I am assuming the difference in mpg is because of the terrain. The temperature in Florida was warmer than further north but not more than 5 to 10 degrees. I'm not sure that has much effect on the mpg. After manually calculating my mpg I got about 43 mpg in the rolling hills/mountainous areas and 39 in the flat areas like Georgia and Florida. I was very surprised what a difference the flat highways gave me in mpg. Do you have any hints that increase your flat highway driving mpg.

Found the cabin air filter while under there messing with the fuses. It's the same setup as the Focus. Here's a (ridiculously long winded) video:
And here's the filter on Amazon:

This video was long but I installed mine without a hitch and within 5 minutes. Thanks for this post!

Thank you everyone for your help! I found my rest areas.

Hey everyone!
You can do a POI "Search by name" for rest areas by saying:
“Destination POI” | pause | follow prompts | pause | "Name" | pause | "Rest area"
See more at: http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/navigation-by-voice-sync-myford-touch#sthash.ZuXZUuQP.dpuf
Let me know if you have any other questions. :)
Rebecca
Thanks Rebecca for the information. I tried your advice this morning without success. When Sync asked me the name I said Rest Area and it said that I could give names or spell it out so I tried again and also tried spelling out rest area and it didn't find any for me. I hope there is an answer for this because it would be very handy while on a trip. Thanks again.

Thank Laurel I'll check it out today.

Does anyone know how to ask the Navigation where the nearest Rest Area is along a route? It may not be possible but I thought I'd ask here. Thanks for your help.

I saw this on this weeks new episode of CSI. It's the CSI that takes place in Las Vegas. They show the car as being searched inside and a great shot of the outside.

I'm really enjoying my clean color right now. I broke my foot a month ago so my husband has been driving it when it rains because his is clean. Mine still looks clean even though it needs a bath. On another note I'm really looking forward to washing it in a few weeks so I can see that baby blue come shining through as I wipe it down :flirt:

I rode in Max with my new Weather tech front floor liners. I really like the way they look and they will make clean up easier.

Wow that's excellent! How many miles to you have on your C-Max?
-
When I checked their website they had a listing for the CMax. This was just last week. I was planning to buy a set for Maxus front and rear
I just ordered mine from Amazon.com. This is how they are listed: Weathertech 454591 Front Floor Liner for 2013 Ford C-Max/2013 Ford Escape, Tan. I was a little concerned that they won't fit but I can always send them back. I read in another post that the Focus floor mats are different than the C-Max. I should get mine next week some time.

I received my check yesterday in Virginia. Yah!!! Thank you Ford. I wasn't unhappy with my gas mileage and I'm not unhappy with my C-Max.

She's beautiful!

First you kick him then you make him drive :finger: .
You've got that wrong. He kicked me and then got to drive ;)
BTW I ordered my set of Weathertek front floor liners. :happy feet: today too.

I let my husband drive me around in Max. I broke my foot last week so I won't be able to drive Max for 6 weeks. I'm more sad about not being able to drive than anything else. Oh well it gives me more time to find some fun things like floor mats.

I saw this one in Roanoke at the last minute but I got a quick picture. I took the picture on 10/2/13 going into the Tanglewood Mall entrance.

My husband asked me a week or so ago if a car on TV was a C-Max. I wasn't paying much attention and said no. Yesterday I was actually watching the commercial and there it was. A gray C-Max right behind the baby. I don't know it this sighting counts as a sighting but I thought it was worth mentioning. The commercial is a Nationwide commercial with the huge baby in it. The C-Max shows up after about 9 seconds. Here is the YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeIWQyeq2pw.

Yeah, thats the PROBLEM with my City driving. It's not the speed limit but the non-timed red lights and the crazy, peak hour traffic braking for no gawd damn reason which forces more stationary time than driving time...ssssh. On a rare blue moon, I can get a stretch of timed lights....
I use to drive the country back roads at East Los Angeles, that was more fun and fast. We'll let me take that back, that one clogs too...LA traffic.
I lived in Hagerstown Maryland when I got my license. It's a fairly small town but the main road through downtown has a speed limit of 25 mph. You can time it so that you never have to stop at more than one red light by going the speed limit. They have all the lights on this road synchronized. It would be great if other roads had this option.

I'm not sure if it's the update or my driving habits but I seem to be getting better highway gas mileage. I recently took a 530 mile trip and averaged over 47 mpg. The speed limit was 70 but I averaged about 65. The last time I drove this same route I got about 43 mpg. This time I found it very easier to travel ice high. I was not on EV just averaging between 65 and 70 mpg on ice. Check out other posts about using ice high or as some call it the sweet spot.

Congratulations mtb! :yahoo: :clapping: I've been watching to see when you got your 600 miles and you did it! Good for you :happy feet:

Did he tell you what he was unhappy about?
Yes he did. He had a larger car before the C-Max and misses the space. He was getting about 45 mpg which was good. He also had problems with the service department where he takes the car. I think that was the major problem. He also didn't' know how to find a sirius station again. That's when I told him to check out these forums because it is a great resource. I think that's all he said.

At age 15 my first car was a 1927 Ford Model T pickup. Never licensed it, just drove it around the back roads. Next came a 1947 Ford two door. Pretty nice, would get up to 80 mph quite quickly but on old US 66 with the pedal to the floor indefintely would hardly get over 85. Next came a 1929 Model A sport coupe. Soft top, non convertible, with a rumble seat. A great transportation special. Now at age 82 I'm back to a Ford, the C-Max, got it up to 113 mph going through Panamint valley (next to Death Valley), probably my last car.
How interesting marshtex2! My father had a car when I was young that had a rumble seat. It was so fun to sit in it.
Red El Camino with fake wood trim and to make it just awesome, a huge CB radio antenna.
EDIT: I just realized that teens have no fashion sense at all.
I remember the CB radios. My handle was lil pumpkin in 1975 because at the time I worked at McDonalds we wore orange uniforms.

Saw this one while I was sitting in my dining room as I glanced out the window. It's a quick shot out the window through the blinds but I got it.

My husband and I are new to hypermiling. We love this car especially because it's fun to drive. We love to see who gets the best mileage on our trips. It's a challenge to better ourselves. In fact we find driving gas cars boring now. We drove my husband's gas car on a recent trip and we both got bored. I kept looking for something to watch other than the typical gas engine gauges. We've become better drivers because we are more conscious of what we are doing when we drive the C-Max. I'm very excited that I could improve my gas mileage on a 530 mile trip from 43 mpg to 47.9 mpg. More power to anyone who wants to hyper mile! :worship:

That's a good idea. I like to use mine as a cooler. When I have cold drink that I want to leave in my hot car I put it into the cup holder at the bottom of the center console and it's as cold as when I left it.
