  1. Those of you who are looking for a C-Max may want to make sure you check local inventory and check for possible dealer trades before ordering. When I ordered my car last fall, there were none available. Now, it looks like the same dealer has more than a dozen in inventory, allbeit SEs.
  2. I started out at about 44 MPG with my second fill-up. Since then it has dropped a bit to about 41MPG. On the other hand, I'm not working quite as hard at my Hybrid Driving as I did at first. I'm at about 4,000 miles and have an oil change coming up. Have any of you noticed a significant increase in gas mileage after your first oil change? I suspect that getting rid of the as-built contaminents should help things a bit.
  3. It looks like the EPA will specifically testing a C-Max. It sounds like EPA is preparing to update the testing standards and process..... http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2013/02/28/epa-gas-mileage-ford-cmax-fusion/1954967/
  4. Turtle Max: VINs won't be available until (almost exactly) 1 week before the car is built. Here's a thread on the process: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/index.php?/topic/1202-how-to-track-your-c-max-order/ Have Fun!
  5. So that was you that I saw. The car was moving so fast, It was just a blurr from 38,000 feet. Business meeting in Atlanta. .... Enjoy and drive safely!!
  6. Rachel: I flew over you this afternoon on my way to Atlanta. I waived at you, did you see me through the sunroof?
  7. So why are you getting the C-Max today and I'm the one up watching the Boards at 2AM?
  8. How about: Laissez les bon C-Max rouler! You could call it Rouler for short....
  9. While I can understand some cases were an "accessory mode" problem, I still don't believe that this is the only issue. My car eventally went into reverse without a restart. If I was in the accessory mode, It would not have started without a restart.
  10. So very sorry! The dealer gave me a good demo and took me parking (so to speak). He emphasized that you have to control the car with the brake. It will not stop on its own. You are an "early adoptor" and you clearly took one for the team on this one. It kind of reminds me of the story, many years ago, when Cruise Control first came out. A guy was driving his motorhome. He set the control and then went to the back of the bus to make a sandwich....
  11. Steak well-done.... Sounds like you ate it rare today at the dealer's! You're on!
  12. We were cautioned by the dealer not to plug an IPhone into the USB connection. Evidently the Microsoft Car and Apple USB don't play well together. He said that things will tend to lock up after a few weeks. I had no problem getting mine to play via Bluetooth. I already had my phone paired. I just went to the bluetooth selection on the car screen. However, I found that the play-pause stuff didn't work real well. I controlled the music off of my phone. Candidly, with Sirius, I've not had much need to use the IPhone for music.
  13. Here is where your Dad's car was yesterday: http://maps.google.com/maps?rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-Address&oe=&rlz=&q=melvindale+mi+map&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x883b3410eadbd9f3:0xe3ad9f4123ffc82e,Melvindale,+MI&gl=us&sa=X&ei=srofUfWwBqOg2gXyqoDwBQ&ved=0CDAQ8gEwAA Of course, we won't know where it is today until you get the railcar number.......
  14. Yeah.... and by the way. We really need to get a life!
  15. Laurel: I think she is wayyyy tooo shy to call. I don't think that she has the guts to do it..... I'll even bet her dinner at the MI event that she won't get the railcar numbers for the cars. What do you think???
  16. My guy "departed" the dealership shortly after I ordered and before I picked up my car...... It might have had something to do with them double counting my rebate for a cost of about $1000 below Invoice. I also tracked my trade in..... It started at about $4000 more than they paid me for the car (typical markup). Just before it disappeared from their website it was only about $300 more than they paid me for it. Not sure if they sold it or wholesaled it out. Sooo, I got a great deal, but I don't think that I've got an easy way to check. Unfortunately, Cyberdman is going to be out for a couple of weeks. Looks like Rachel is going to have to put on her big girl pants and demand what she's got comin' to her ;) Other than that, I'm hoping that the dates will work out for the trip to the Factory. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!
  17. Hey Rachel! Here is an update on Dad's car. Sorry, I couldn't get a railcar number. Why don't you check with the dealer..... Tell them that it is on the visibilty report for the vehicle ;) . May I have an update Please?: 1FADP5BU8DL525456 Posted Today, 06:16 AM In Transit - Arrived at Intermediate Point (Norfolk Southern Corp ) Oakwood, MI Feb-14-2013, 03:44 ET. ETA Feb-26-2013.
  18. Speaking of negative equity...... Is 10,500 miles a year, going to be enough?
  19. Don't rush them too much. you won't get a rail car number until it is on the train. I'm guessing that will happen around the end of the week.
  20. Looks like Laurel got an update for you... In Transit - Received - Map/east/n (Voith Industrial Services Inc ) Ramp 4G, Mi Assebly Plnt, MI Feb-09-2013, 03:06 ET. ETA *Feb-25-2013. As best I can figure Voith gets the vehicles from the back door of the plant to the railhead, but then I'm just guessing...
  21. If you are reading this, you've probably ordered your C-Max from a dealer. It is not being "dealer traded." You're getting a new C-Max built just for you! Now you are anxiously awaiting word on delivery. Your dealer may be giving you regular updates or may not be providing much information at all. Here is what I've been able to pull together on the ordering/build/delivery process. I'm new at this, so corrections/updates from others are welcome. Much of this has been compiled from other sites and the experience that others and I have had as we've ordered our cars. Your dealer will place the order with Ford. Soon it will be confirmed and entered into Ford's build system. Your dealer should be able to provide you with: - His dealer number - Your vehicle's order number. A couple of weeks (or so) later your car will be assigned a VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). You will be able to see the window sticker for your car about a week before the build date. Don't worry, It will be there just a few days before the build. Your car may have a variety of "statuses" as it goes through the process. I don't pretend to understand them, but the critical ones are: -"Unscheduled Clean"- That means that the order is in the system, but the build date hasn't been set. "Clean"means that there is nothing holding it up, It just isn't set on the production timetable. -"Scheduled to Week"- That means that the car is scheduled to be built on a specific week. -"Scheduled to Day"- That means that the vehicle is scheduled to be built on a specific day. Of course, a glitch can always cause a big or little change in the dates. Even though your car is scheduled for a specific date, it may take a day or two before it is released from the factory. It will then be moved around a bit until it gets to the departure railhead. Once loaded onto the train, It will show as being on a specific train car. And it will wind its way to you. The operative word is "wind." It seems that cars are added to the train at various stops. The "whole" train then heads off to your part of the world. Again, there may be some (short?) stops are dropped at various locations. Once the railcar reaches your receiving railhead, it is detached from the train and your C-Max is unloaded from the railcar. Cars are again resorted and put on trucks (car carriers) that take the car to your dealer. Again, there may be a bit of a delay so that the car carrier is full going to your dealer or area. Soooooo, how do you track this? If your dealer is helpful, he can pull a vehicle visibility report on the car at any point after the order is placed and acknowledged by Ford. That will give him (and you) the order details, the VIN after it is assigned, and the current status of the build. Ask for updates, but try not to be a total pain with daily phone calls. If the dealer isn't helpful, you should, at minimum get the dealer number and the order number. Also try to get the VIN after a couple of weeks. Armed with these items and with a bit of help, you can track the car. If you aren't getting details beyond the above, you can go to: http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/forum/80-vehicle-locator-by-ford-employees/ . A gentleman there works for Ford. He tracks vehicles on his own time, before his workday begins. CRITICAL INFO: He has VERY strict rules on how he does this. Make sure you read and follow the rules carefully before you make a tracking request. You also have to sign-in and have 10 posts on the main site to make a request. Again: READ AND FOLLOW THE RULES!. Once you have the VIN, you can pull the window sticker (about a week before the build) at: http://www.researchmaniacs.com/Ford/TrackFactoryCarOrders.html With this information, you should be able to track the car through the buld process. A few days later, once your car is safely loaded on its railcar, there is a way-cool way to track it on the way to you. Get the dealer to give you the railcar number from the visibility report (yep it's there). If not, time your request properly to get it from the gentleman (Cyberdman) above. With the railcar information, you can follow these instructions to track the car real-time as it makes it way to your local railhead: http://www.raptorforumz.com/showthread.php?t=13007 Again, there may be glitches anywhere in the process. A factory problem, a rail problem, or a holiday can change things quickly. Use the dates that you see for delivery as an rough estimate. Don't count on them as a hard delivery day. Relax. Your car will get here, when it gets here, not sooner or later. Above all. Have fun! This is all part of the ordering process. I hope this information helps you track and enjoy your new C-Max!
  22. Since we have some newcomers on the board, I'm shamelessly bumping this post.
  23. Sounds good! Please keep the Board updated. Sometimes manufacturers don't get it quite right and you end up with vehicle problems. Hopefully not. We'll be looking for a motor home in the next 2-5 years. Just trying to gather information. Thanks!
  24. Howz the Towing Behind a Motor Home stuff workin' out for you guys??
