  1. I'd like to know if these create noticeable wind noise on the hwy.

I have not noticed any extra wind noise with the Vent installed.  I had to replace the right front side when the shade itself snaped off.  The dealer and Ford replaced it, but it was one tint shade off, a different batch number.  Worth the price.  I have not noticed any reduction in mileage, but then again, with a daily commute of 130 miles.  If I am lossing a tenth of a mile/gal, big deal.

  2. Finally!!! :happy feet:

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginia lawmakers have voted to repeal a year-old tax on hybrid vehicles.

The House of Delegates on Thursday voted 89-9 to scrap the $64 tax, following a similar 35-3 Senate vote earlier this week.

Media outlets report that Gov. Terry McAuliffe has said he will sign the measure to repeal the tax enacted last year as part of a comprehensive transportation funding package.

Hybrid drivers had argued that they should be rewarded, not penalized, for buying an energy-saving vehicle.

The move will reduce anticipated state revenue by about $6.9 million next year.

  3. Just got my car back from the Dealer.  I had the Three Update Recalls done and my second run with GPS Issues.  They Updated the GPS Computer Program, Tested and returned.

I am enjoying the updates, in that my cold weather Mileage has already improved by 3 MPGs and seem to be increasing.  My GPS is another matter.  It has decided to head off on it's own and lock on parallel streets and have try to do the acrobatic U-turns.  Caled my Dealer this morning and found out three other C-maxes also have the same problem and the issue is now with the Engineers at Ford.  Interested in hearing that outcome.

Other then the GPS and SYNC in general I really do like my C-Max.  I had 8 Months of Dealer hell with my 2003 F-250 Diesel when I bought that home, and once Ford fixed all of the issues I ended up keeping it for 10 Years, and 244,000 miles of fun filled Driving Enjoyment.  I can only hope right now.

  4. My first Car I bought was a 1959 Studebaker Lark 4 door with 3 on the tree.  A Compact car at the time with the room of a Yellow Cab in back.  I bought it in 1974 and three months later I bought my first Motorcycle, a 1968 Honda 450.  Life was great back then, and yes I would love to find, restore and have them again.

  5. Had a first Fall Weather Temp of 49 degrees this morning.  Fired up the Elect. Seats and drove out of the Hood on Batts to the Parkway, then turned on the Defrosters for about 4 Minutes to clear the final bits of condisation, by then I was on the 95 South Speedway and I secured the ventilation.  I still did my 64 Mile Commute at a very acceptable 43.3 MPG.

I still need to take my Max in for the Update, so I should be seeing even better numbers soon.

  6. I am still really happy with my C-Max, I went into my purchase knowing that I would never see 47 MPG, and if I saw around 40, I would be very happy.  So my Averages for April - Sept are:

    MPG - 42.5 with a High of 46.8 and a Low of 35.7.

Miles per day -39.3 High of 144.6 and a Low of 16.6

    S/mile - 0 .079 High of 0.096 and a Low of 0.073

    Fuel Price - 3.35/gallon  High of 3.54/gallon and a Low of 3.16/gallon

    I am "Happy Happy Happy"

  7. I have been using the iPhone Paid App; Road Trip.

I like the graphs, the fact I track both my Motorcycle my Max and my wife's Scion.  I also track all my car purchases and our trips.  It then does its App magic and we get a cost per mile running total.

There is a Free App for Road Trip if you would like to check it out.

  8. I did my first 500 Mile Tank this week.  Put 11.89 gallons of gas on 532 miles for a MPG of 44.8.  I could not be happier with my milage.  I have 4300 miles on my Max, and the MPG keeps going up.  Here are some things I have noticed:

    1.  Best mileage is with no AC and the window down, which is fine going to work in the Morning.

    2.  Get very good Milage in the Morning driving at 70MPH and only lose about .1 MPG indicated.  But, I make that up on the second half of my commute where I gain the milage back on 35-50 MPH Secondary Road portion of my commute.  37 miles on the Freeway and about 25 miles on Secondary Roads.

    3. Afternoons after work on the way home, the AC comes on if the Temps are above 80.  I will lose .2 MPGs if I run with traffic, at 70.  However, I will keep my MPGs with the AC on if I run at between 59-60 MPH.

    4. Thank you Recumpence on your Post on finding your sweet spot.  I continue to experiment with different speeds, and I found I like keep the Max in Engage.

Next Challenge... My first 600 mile tank.

  9. how do you know the under coating works if you didn't compare for months without it and then after?

can you have it done after you buy it at a cheaper price than the dealer jacked up costs?

Had it done to my 2003 F250 Diesel when I bought it new saw no reason not to have it done again with my new Max.   My Undercoating comparison was done between my 6 week C-Max rental which was a straight SEL.  Once I returned home and I was driving my Max again, it was very noticable how quite my Max was compared to the rental.

As for the Dealer installed options.  Once I factored in overall cost, convienance, loss of car and the time it would have taken for the multible installations. It really was easier to  purchase my options from the Dealer and let them do it.

  10. Nobody ever mentioned undercoating to me.  Was that a dealer option, or did you get it done after purchase?

I installed Dynamat in my last car, and it not only helped with noise reduction, but it also made the car cool faster (and the A/C work less) due to increased insulation.  I started thinking about having it installed in the C-MAX, but I got concerned about this possibly affecting the noise canceling system.  Also, the C-MAX is already quite quiet.

On the other hand, if the undercoating is an easy addition to the underside, then it's something I might consider.

It was a dealer option.  I had it done to my Truck when I bought it new and did not see one bit of rust in it's ten years with me.  So it was a no brainer to have it done again.

  11. Two Months.  3300 Miles with 1354 of those as EV miles.  My Lifetime mileage is at 44.9 MPG, close enough to the EPA number that I can not complain.  So we cannot be happier, what a fun car to drive.  Thank you to the more experiance owners that have taught me their secrect to the higher milage returns.

I have found my sweet spot is between 59-61 MPH.  at that speed I will get 46-49 MPG on my Daily Commute.

Running without AC will boost my MPG by 1-3 MPGs.

I have drove Max on three of my favorite motorcycle roads and have found the car to be really good fun on the twisties.  No issues with the steering.  In fact I have enjoyed the steering more than the steering in the Mini Cooper.  The Car just goes where you point it.

I am glad I got the car UnderCoated when I bought it.  There is a big difference in the lack of road noise because of that addition, worth the cost.

Granted, we have only had the car for two months, but I will say, the Honeymoon just has not ended.

  12. Received a letter today for Program Number 13B06.  It is for the Dealer to Preprogram or replace free of charge the Rear Gate Trunk Module.

With my travels, I have not been able to drop my car off.  We have had to do a double kick for the Lift Gate to operate properly.  I to the point were the first kick unlocks the Gate and the second kick energizies the Gate Mechanicals.

Now I will drop it off and go ahead and get the Wing Deflectors, Mud Flaps and the Rear Bumper Protector added.

  13. Would someone PLEASE unpin this and let it drop into the depths of unwanted postings?  I did not join this Forum to have the Forum Police decide who and what kind of questions, and how many time they can or could be asked.

Everytime we are blessed with a new member, they will have questions.  The great and wonderful ability of a good Forum, is that there will always be a member who is willing to answer thier question.  I will be the first to thank the older members for being kind and aswering my early questions and not handing me a citation because I did not find the answer on the Forum first.

So please, lets unpin this, and remove the Chest Pounding from this Forum.  I really do enjoy the information, and the other Members and the experiance they bring.  I really adds to the enjoyment of owning my new C-Max.

  14. I found and started to read about the C-Max.  I read about the good mileage, even though it wasn't making the EPA numbers.  Then one day I decided to get some quotes through AAA, Cosco and a local Dealer.  When the quotes came through  AAA won the cost bids and I went and test drove one.  We talked and the dealer told me to take the car overnight and drive it.

The drive home was in Rushhour traffice, and  by the time my wife got to drive it a bit, we were back at the dealer signing the papers.  In less then two hours, we had a new Max, and haven't regretted it since.  The last tank we got  46 MPG.  Summer is hear I still don't make the EPA's number, but you know what?  I really don't care.  We have a great car that is very comfortable and best of all it is fun to drive, and has turned into a great Commuter Car that I get to put 125 miles a day on when I am not on Travel.
