  1. Your first statement is in error.

In August of 2014, combined C-MAX sales of Hybrids and Energi plug-in Hybrids increased compared to the prior year.

Individual monthly sales of C-MAX Hybrid-only models also increased over the prior monthly sales in December 2014.

I post charts and selected statistics  in this thread: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/3733-ford-c-max-monthly-sales-chart/?p=60053

Numbers come directly from Ford monthly US sales reports, and C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi Plug-in Hybrid model sales breakouts as reported in InsideEVs.com and HybridCars.com

Early C-MAX sales numbers were large, perhaps artificially large, because Ford sold many early C-MAX vehicles to car rental companies and fleet buyers. More recently, Ford has made public its intention to reduce reliance on rental and fleet sales to bump up sales numbers.

General Motors discovered with the GM A-Platform front-wheel-drive vehicles (Olds Cutlass Ciera, Pontiac 6000, Buick Century, and Chevy Celebrity), pushing thousands of cars annually into the rental market makes sales numbers look good, but adds nothing to the corporate profit margin. The other effect for GM was that when those nearly-new rental units hit the market, they often 'took' sales from the same new models in the showrooms.

So after 3 years of production, the authentic demand now seems to average about 2000 combined monthly sales of about 70% C-MAX Hybrids and 30% Energi Plug-in Hybrids per month, achieved basically without any advertising, and without using Ford incentives larger than any other Ford vehicles.

    Thanks! I corrected the post.

  2. For the first time since August of 2014 the C-max has had an increase in sales. Sales hit 1,966 units in September, up 10.1% from last year. This may seem like quite a jump, but it comes no where close to the all time C-max high of 4,848 units in November of 2012. Sadly, as a whole the hybrid and electric car market has decreased by 17% year over year. Most of this can be linked to the continually falling gas prices. It seems Americans in particular have very short term memory. Eventually gas prices will go back up.

Year to date the C-max sales hit 17,291 down 20.4% from last year.

For comparison the total Prius family sales in September hit 16,110 up 12.8%. However, year to date sales hit 141,940 down 14.2%.

Ford really needs to give the C-max some updates. It's lacking some of their latest technology like adaptive cruise control with collision warning, blis, and even the new surround camera. I think with some new additions and slightly reworked styling I think Ford could add some life back to the C-max sales. If all else fails, maybe the VW scandal will makes some potential buyers look into the C-max instead!

  3. Unlikely, but nothing is impossible.

I'm fairly certain it's a 2011 or newer Grand Max.

    http://www.automotorblog.com/the-new-ford-grand-c-max-at-geneva-motor-show/

It's got the 2011 and newer European C-MAX and Grand Max front grille, and roof rails, like the Euro Grand Max.

With all the MPG re-rating going on, I doubt that Ford would take of another few tenths by making the roof rails standard, but they could now be a factory option.

You can clearly see it's not, by the signature C-max Hybrid bar where the Ford emblem is. The Grand C-max doesn't have that...

  4. Looks a lot like the Focus front end. If this is in fact a new front grille design, I'm glad I got a 2014. Of course, the 2015 Focus lower grille area looks more like the current C-Max/Fusion, Aston Martin design.

I like the new design better! It looks like it will have improved aerodynamics!!! That means better fuel economy finally!

  5. Before you terminate, can you access the details of the C-Max Energi reliability rating so we see if it is indeed due to the MFT system problems?  All those details are behind the CR paywall.  http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/ford/c-max/reliability.htm

Here is the official ConsumerReports release http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2013/10/2013-consumer-reports-reliability-survey/index.htm

  6. I just saw a article on the internet from consumer reports, saying the C-maxes are the least reliable cars.

The vehicle with the top predicted reliability score was the 2014 Subaru Forester SUV, while FordCo's C-Max Energi plug-in hybrid vehicle received the worst score, Consumer Reports said.

Here is a link to read the full article http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/10/28/autos-consumerreports-idUSL1N0II0JJ20131028

If you are currently subscribed to consumer reports, like I am I'm sure your just as angry.

I am terminating my consumer reports subscription immediately, for being so bias. :nonono: :gaah:

I hope you feel and do the same. :rtfm:

  7. https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2013/08/15/c-max-fuel-economy.html

This is the official ford media website link, to the first info available about the 2014 C-max hybrid!!!!

I will update this post when more info becomes available.

    • 2014 Ford C-MAX Hybrid on sale later this year is upgraded with new transmission gearing and enhanced aerodynamics to further improve fuel efficiency performance
    • Ford voluntarily changing its approach to C-MAX Hybrid fuel economy labeling going forward to better match performance and improve customer satisfaction
    • Label changes will result in a lower 2013 C-MAX Hybrid miles-per-gallon label – though still class-leading and a better combined label than the Toyota Prius v; current C-MAX Hybrid owners will receive a goodwill payment for the difference
    • Customer demand for C-MAX Hybrid remains very strong, with two-thirds of buyers from imports; C-MAX Hybrid helps drive Ford to best quarterly hybrid U.S. sales ever

Underscoring its commitment to fuel economy leadership, Ford Motor Company today said it is upgrading the 2014 Ford C-MAX Hybrid, which will go on sale in December. The company also is changing the way it tests and labels the 2013 C-MAX Hybrid for fuel economy to better match performance and improve customer satisfaction.

The upgrades build on powertrain software updates Ford announced last month for the 2013 C-MAX Hybrid. The 2014 C-MAX also will benefit from several hardware changes, including:

    • Gearing changes that result in a more efficient transmission drive ratio
    • New hood seal, front and rear tire deflectors, A-pillar moldings and the addition of rear lift gate deflectors to improve vehicle aerodynamics
    • New engine oil with reduced friction

The enhancements to the 2014 C-MAX Hybrid are expected to improve customers’ on-road fuel economy, especially at highway speeds.

  8. Hi everyone! I contacted the IIHS, and they said the C-max doesn't sell enough for them to test it. They did say though, "The Focus and C-max have many of the same structural components. So, you can expect the C-maxes rating to be close to that of the Focus." Then, I e-mailed them back again and asked if it would be as close to the Escape as the Focus. They responded and said " No, it is going to be closer to the Focus. Since the Escape is higher off the ground, it hits the barrier differently. So, as I said in the last message, you can expect the C-max to get a rating close to the Focus."

  9. Seth7721, the private owners of a site can do whatever they please with regard to posts. They do not have to honor one's right of "free speech" under the first amendment. They can edit / remove any post they desire.

AND I NEVER SAID YOU PERSONALLY ATTACKED ANYONE. Please re-read what I said. The mods / owners need to make that assessment. My comment was directed to closing the thread. Warn people, ban people before locking a thread because of negative / harsh comments. People do need to understand that a forum is not Facebook (nor IMO should it be) where one selects their "friends" and thus all comments are "way to go", "good job", "I agree" and so forth.

I know they have the right to take a post down. What I was saying, is if they do take my comment down. THAT WOULD BE WRONG. I didn't use any profane language, nor do I ever.
  10. But one has to ask why MADCMAX started this thread. MADCMAX deserves to have his decision and "facts" questioned.

MADCMAX's post could be considered trolling (sowing discord by starting arguments or upsetting people) [/size]and he likely should be banned if it continues. I and my guess is most aren't going to miss him or anyone that decides to leave.Just go away quietly.

I would suggest a moderator warn and modify / delete posts that personally attack MADCMAX not close the thread.

You are mostly correct. He put the post up here so people can comment. I was exercising my right of free speech. By taking my comment down that would be CENSORSHIP. I did not use any profane language in my post, I never do. He had to expect to strike some nerves when he starts that kind of topic on a C-MAX LOVING SITE.
  11. I refuse to give Japan any more American Auto workers jobs.  These people do not realize who they are stabbing in the back. America and the hard working middle class me and woman.  But they are so bitter I doubt they even think of who they are really hurting by buying Toyota.  I'm leaving this now before my blood boils :rant2:

You are so right. My head spins when I try to figure out why others can't understand this.

  12. I want to start off by saying I HOPE YOU REGRET GETTING RID OF YOUR C-MAX FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. SECOND, THE PRIUS HAS HAD IT'S FAIR SHARE OF RECALLS. THIRD, I WOULD TAKE A C-MAX OVER A PIECE OF TRASH PRIUS ANY DAY. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED!!! IF YOU COULDN'T GET THE 47/47/47, THAT'S YOUR FAULT. PLENTY OF PEOPLE CAN. OH, AND TOYOTA FAILED TO NOTIFY OWNERS SOON ENOGH THAT WHEN THEY WANTED TO STOP THERE CARS THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO. 51 PEOPLE DIED AND COUNTLESS WERE INJURED. I CONTACTED THE IIHS AND ASKED WHY THE C-MAX HADN'T BEEN TESTED YET, AND THEY SAID " The C-Max is on our radar, but isn't high on our priority list because it is a very low volume vehicle. We are currently allocating most of our test time on updating our current rated vehicles with small overlap tests." SO, GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT BEFORE YOU GO SPOUTING SOME GARBAGE. I HAVE MET 2 OTHER C-MAX OWNERS IN PERSON, AND THEY LOVED THERE C-MAX. FORD DOES CARE, THE AMAZING CRAFTMINSHIP PUT INTO THE C-MAX PROVES THAT. YOU KNOW WHAT. IM HAPPY YOU TRADED IN YOUR C-MAX., YOU DON'T DESERVE A C-MAX. SO, JUST GO DRIVE YOUR DUMB PIECE OF GARBAGE PLASTIC.

  13. Hi, I think it would be beneficial to the forum if we had a bi-weekly or even monthly chatroom. This would mean however often a moderator wanted, they could open up a instant chatroom to talk about the subject they pick. So, say you wanted to talk about the C-max recall. You could post a message on the front page of the forum saying Aug 5th, starting at 5:30 click over to the chatroom to talk about the C-max recall. This is better in a way than the normal blog, because you can get everyones thoughts and concerns instantly. Also, I don't know of any other forums that have this. Meaning ours would be the first. Please think about it, then tell me what you thought.
