My 2013 C-Max Hybrid recently started showing a warning light for "Mobility Tire Kit". I know that this is just a warning light for the Kit (I guess to inspect it) , and you can hit OK to make it temporarily go away. However, the warning light comes on every time I start my engine, does anyone know how to reset it so it doesn't keep lighting up each time I start the ignition?

I have a 2013 CMAX and recently,.....for only the 2nd time, I tried to lower the rear seatback (the 2 seat side, behind the driver) and,.........the seatback won't go down. Took the car in for it's 25,000 mile inspection and mentioned the rear seatback failure. Their answer, the release mechanism failed but it's part of the whole seat frame and will cost $700.00 to repair ! ! ! That's right, some FORD designer was too stupid to think,.."What if this mechanism ever fails? , replacing the whole seat frame might be rather pricey, lets design this differently so it's a simple repair." Well, needless to say,...the car is off it's warranty and I'm not paying $700 to have this fixed. But,......I'm wondering if anybody on this site has access to the Service manuals and could send me a picture of this rear seat mechanism or just how the rear seat gets connected to the car? Why? Because I think I'm going to do some junkyard searches and see if I can pickup a rear - leftside seat and do the replacement myself. Or at least take the current seat and see if I can set it in the DOWN Position and leave it like that, I asked the dealer if they could do that and they said NO, it would mean tearing the whole rear seat apart.

I checked out my 2013 Ford CMax Hybrid SE on the Ford ETIS site and got the exact same results you mention,......CMax Energi,.........guess I better start looking for the cable/plug :happy feet:

Name one like and dislike with your C-Max?

Like: A Hybrid that has a little power when you need it,......not like a Prius DisLike: With all the little lights they put outside and side the car,.........why didn't they put a little light right by the Key Ignition slot so on dark mornings you can find the slot. -
Yea,........I'm 55 and never owned a Ford before, than 2 years ago I bought a very nice used 2001 Ford Ranger XLT,..no rust at all. So when my Toyota Celica was 13 years old, I thought, Let's see what Ford has and see if their into Hybrid's. Well, long story short, I bought my C-Max SE last year and now have 2 Fords.

Well,......I kind of wonder about Water running down the window and,............sitting right their at the base of the spoiler. Not saying it would be a huge amount, but a little amount of water pooling up at the base and after a couple years,.......the appearance of rust? I once owned a Honda CRX Si which had door moldings,.......the water got under the door moldings and starting totally ruining my doors as the rust started protruding through the door and from under the door molding. Course this was after some 6 to 7 years but still. Now if you live in a "Dry" climate area, not an issue.

Splash Guards - Molded, Black Frnt & Rear
dlapean replied to mtb9153's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Yea,...it was a tough call on whether to get these (not cheap, and than the wind resistance issue) but I did finally buy them in the late fall and installed them. There not hard to install ,.......BUT,......you really do need to remove the tire for each mudflap install,..it just makes it so much easier because there is 1 hole to drill (through the plastic molding). Maybe it could be done with the tire on, but much easier with the tire off. -
Thought I'd put my 2 cents in on the mpg drop during the cold winter. I bought my C-MAX SE last spring and while I do a lot of scooter riding in summer, I did manage to get my mpg to 40.7. Wintertime, I'm obviously driving the C-Max all the time,......I cut my own polycarbonate grill covers and applied them. So far my mileage is currently at 39.0. Did I mention I live in Wisconsin,..........air temp yesterday was -6,.........today -16,........wind chill worse yet. I do wonder if anybody knows what the average mpg lost is on a typical gasoline engine from summer and then winter? I know there's a lot of variable,..different cars, number of valves, size of engine and so on. But, is there a general average like - expect to lose 5 mpg during the winter as compared to summer driving?

My experience: Gas mileage as a function of temperature
dlapean replied to BobJustBob's topic in Fuel Mileage
Well,......I'm not graphing anything,......but being from Wisconsin, I can state that the cooler temps have resulted in my C-Max dropping 3 tenths off of it's average. I was averaging 40.7 during the summer and even the fall,......but recently it's gotten into the 30's for daytime temps and my average has dropped,....now at 40.4. Also wondering,.........does using the heated seats have any effect on electricity draw, as far as gas mileage, I suspect NOT, but I will say that those seats at just a setting of '2',......get very hot and draw a lot of electricity. Can't image anybody using heated seats at a setting of '5',........scorched buns. -
Free loaner vehicle from Ford during their mandated fixes

I burned a day of vacation,.......got the car in early and was "shuttled" home,.........worked around the house, got called at noon and picked-up at 12:15 by shuttle, back to the Garage. -
Here is a much cheaper Rear View Option but,.......unfortunately they don't provide access to the Manual. It looks like you just need to tap into a Power Source / Negative Connection and plug into a video source. All for under $20.00. http://www.amazon.com/electronics/dp/B0049LBJ56 Koolertron Rear View License Plate Backup CMOS Camera

All of the tweaking points seem to make sense but I'm not a car engine expert, so I'm just alittle concerned about the last point,.......minimizing AC Compressor usage. I understand cutting back energy use in the Wintertime, but would this mean that in the summertime you may not get the Cold AC you expect, when you really do need/want it,......you know, on those Humid 95 degree days when you really want good air conditioning?

Is 3.5.1 available for the SE model

I have the C-Max Hybrid SE,........and just got the Upgrade done, at the dealership,..last week. -
I had the upgrade installed last Thursday,........took them 5 hours to do the,.......supposedly 1 hour upgrade. Everything seems to be working okay but,....I'm puzzled and maybe somebody can point me in the right direction. I got the upgrade notice in the mail and it mentioned about 10 things that would improve,..... in particular was easier VOICE commands and easier Navigation. However,.......there were no specifics offered and that is my issue,...........Does anyone no where you can find the Specific Details of the changes and improvements one is suppose to notice, not generalizations? I thought that I would now be able to tap the Voice activation and Say AM Radio 1,...........stead of Radio,.......wait for reply,......respond with AM 1. But so far I haven't noticed any ,........EASIER VOICE Commands?

Pemulis,.......another thing I found with my S4 and C-Max,.......try this: Connect Car to Phone and just sit in car and watch your S4,.....I found that after a couple minutes a message would Pop-up on my S4 and ask for permission to allow SYNC to access my Location information or SYNC with the MAPS Program. Answer these question(s) and make sure to check the "Don't Ask Again" box. Hopefully that will do the trick for you. -

Bluetooth KeepAlive solved my disconnect problems, phone now stays connected the whole time, from car start up to shutdown. Program is simple to use and did the trick, nice to have constant connection. -

Ok,.....after much web surfing I have found out that Samsung uses Bluetooth technology called Bluetooth Low Energy in it's Samsung Galaxy S4 (S3 also). Furthermore, a number of people have complained about the same problem as here, mainly, people are losing connectivity with their cars system when using this phone. I came across a discussion where the person claimed to have this problem but solved it by using a downloaded program for the phone called "Bluetooth Keepalive - for Android systems, many claim it cleared up their problem right away and no more disconnects. I'm gonna download it tonite and hopefully it will solve my phone disconnect problems. -

Jelly Bean,......I downloaded the only download that was available for my vehicle. I have limited time to monkey with this stuff,.......when the phone wasn't connecting I simply went out to FORD SYNC and looked for updates and there was an update available, I downloaded it and installed it. Unfortunately,.....the phone is still disconnecting after the 2nd day of usage, since the update. I hurried a complaint off to FORD SYNC from work and will see if this wknd I can investigate more, but for now, not happy with the connection dropping after just a few minutes of connection. -

Glad I caught this topic,.........I recently got the new Samsung Galaxy S4 and have noticed this constantly happening to me,........it Pairs Up,....and a few seconds later, I lose the connection but my S4 says it's still connected, the FORD MFT says "Connect Phone". Sounds like some software updating is need for the MFT. :drop: -
Thanks ScubaDadMiami,.........I did find the pictures from dtorres "Gentex ElectroChromatic Mirror Installation" and the pictures, with the power wire and negative wire colors described, gave me all I needed. I used some small wire taps and everything went just fine. I know many people hang their radar detectors off the mirror or from the windshield, but I always hang mine from the passenger Sunshade and than prop the sunshade so it sits "Level". I always feel that if a cop see's the radar detector,.......they'll write a max fine ticket on you for having one......with it hanging on the sunshade it's not real noticeable. Sorry,.......no pics but it's pretty straightforward once you see the installation pictures from dtorres "Gentex Mirror installation" thread. P.S. No I haven't ever got a ticket for speeding,.......it's more of a alert thing,...to check my speed when my detector does go off (and I know cops are "searching").

My radar Detector is an older, but fine working (for my area) Escort Radar,...... After reading the replies,.....I think I'll use the pictures on this site for the mirror installation and try tapping into that area (ambient light area) for a power source on the Radar. Thanks everyone.

Wondering if anyone has wired in a Radar Detector, is it possible to tap into something near the passenger side sunshade, like the dome light or controls for the ambient lighting? My old Radar Detector doesn't use batteries and does not have a cigarette plug, it's a hot wire connection only (it does have an on/off switch).
