How can you explain getting 100 miles more that your previous best? Did your route change? I thought you had some interstate driving? What do you think the maximum mpg would be for a 31 mile trip with 18 miles being highway 55-60mph and the rest being interstate 60-65? More downhill one way than the other. My best on the way in was like 53mpg and on the way back 45.5.

1st 600 mile tank, my wife drove the car on 400 miles of this, 60% hwy, 30% interstate and 10% city. Our next goal will be 50mpg for a tank, what are the keys to doing this? Will our mileage increase after we drive the car more?

Update: 2nd tank was 39.5, and went 505 miles, she is averaging 44 on the 3rd tank so far, it has been warmer this week

I have been reading a lot on this forum since we got the car and have learned a ton. It is mainly my wife's DD and our family car on the weekends. The first few days I got to drive it I tried to keep it in EV as long as I could but that left the battery below 50% at all times. I took a few trips out yesterday trying the Eco cruise and even trying to keep the battery in the 60-80% range to see what effect that would have. It seems it burns more gas trying to keep the battery up. I am really trying to get 47+ on a tank. I know it is possible but the challenge will be trying to master the best MPG techniques then teaching them to my wife. Her commute is about 35 miles one way with 50% highway and 50% interstate. Her trip features a 5 mile downhill stretch to work and of course 5 mile uphill on the way home. She got 43.5 on the way home today which I thought was great considering the uphill climb. What should I tell her would be the best strategy on dealing with the hill? Right now I would think to EV assist or coasting on the way down and on the way up to just drive it like a normal car but try and keep the ICE bar around the second bar. Palmyra is 30 miles NW of Louisville, KY in Indiana. I am also considering on taking the CMax to Florida next month. What kind of mileage can I expect and at what speed it optimal. I am used to driving 75-80 on our annual family vacations.

My wife and I just got our Cmax last Tuesday and we averaged 42.3 for our first tank(I did the math). Can we expect an increase in MPG after an x number of miles?
