Update: Many is still at the dealer. They've replaced the tranny and also said there was a leak in the transmission cooling system that may have caused the tranny to die. Seems strange to me as i did not note any fluid on the ground at all. Also they found a bad wheel bearing. The tranny is covered under warrantee and also I believe the cooling system, not the bearing I presume. I'm beginning to think it may be time to unload this car. Sad.

My 2013 SEL is in the shop for it's second transmission replacement. first one came at about 83000 miles and this one is at 89000 miles. Gives me an uncomfortable feeling about keeping this car which i otherwise love. So far, I've spent nothing for the repairs.

I recently had my 2013 SEL transmission replaced completly by my dealer. No questions asked and I paid nothing. Took a bit over a week and I had a new Focus loaner for that time from the dealer...also free. My car had 79,000 miles on it as well.

I’m definitely inclined to keep my Maxy. However I’m now sitting at the dealer again as there’s leakage of fluid from the transmission. UPDATE: they just informed me that it was a cracked gasket where the line enters the trans. Replaced it and I’m soon good to go.

Thanks for your reply Bob. Yes, I've read some of the tranny problems on this forum. I do about 20-30% long trips. We drive from western NC to NJ several times per year at interstate speeds and also several other trips as well. For example we're doing a Florida run next month. But most of the time it's just around town kind of driving. Asheville is hilly, so there's that to consider as well. All things being equal, I'd really like to keep the car as I do like it a lot. PS--lI don't want the trans to fail again!

I have a 2013 Cmax SEL with 79,000 miles. I just got my car back from my dealer after a brand new transmission was installed for free...thank you Ford. I had the whining sound when driving and they said it was a bad internal bearing and replaced the entire transmission. So, I’m wondering if this is a message to me that I’m faced with other major repairs? The car drives really well now and I like it quite a bit. I get in the 40’s to 50 around town and about 40 on the highway at 70 mph speeds. So the question is what’s the sweet spot between sale value now and future repair costs. Opinions? Marty

So I bought new tires the other day. Here's the details: I've got a 2013 with 59,000 miles. Liked the first set of Michelin's and wanted to get the same ones. I only needed 3 because I had to replace one while traveling when I tore the sidewall out of one. The replacement tire has 8/32 left, so I got 3 of the same as original (Michelin A/S). So, here's my questions: I have the older tire on the right front. What do you-all think of that decision? Now as to tire pressure: I filled them to 38. My tire guy did not want me to go higher due to wear life. I've read threads here in which folks are riding on really high pressure, like even 50. I'm wondering about hemorrhoids at that high a pressure, not to mention tread life. BTW, I was able to get the tires from a local independent shop for $207 each including tax, balancing, etc. What say you-all? Marty
