  1. How do you know if EV+ is active? I've never seen a light come on and I've selected EV+ to be active?
  2. Yes, so i gather. I also read the other thread about this issue. I fill up so infrequently at home, I don't remember what side the fill up is on. :wub2:
  3. I too have filled up about 6 times and what you describe has happened to me twice.
  4. Scuba Dad, I have noticed the same kind of discrepancy.
  5. I've got an iPhone 5 and when I use Google Maps, the directions play through the bluetooth. When I plug in the usb cord, same deal. In using Apple Maps, directed by Seri, the Seri dialogue plays through the bluetooth, but then the map directions play through the iPhone speaker. In google maps, every time a turn direction is given, the instruction is interpreted as an unknown call. After the direction is spoken, the call is ended. This is really weird behavior. Anyone else notice this or similar weirdness? Is there a better way to use my phone for navigation as I don't have the onboard Nav system?
  6. The motorcraft site requires a password (original link above). The other Motorcraft link, does not list anything for the hybrid. Am I missing something?
  7. Go to Fuelly.com and there's a link to upload pic.
  8. I think it's the Law of Conservation of Energy...but I'm only a biologist, not a physicist..
  9. And I thought only I had a Ruby....
  10. I agree with all of you. Yes, we should encourage good social/environmental practice, but we do have to contribute to the upkeep of roads. But Doug's point is well taken. A monster hybrid truck getting 28 mpg should be teated differently than my Maxy.
  11. So the state of NC in its wisdom is proposing a tax of $50/year on hybrid cars and $100 on electric cars to offset the decrease in payment of road taxes paid via sales tax on gasoline. Great!
  12. Just to continue the saga....filled up in NJ after a 500 mile run and in NJ you are not allowed to fill your own, so of course he pumped a bit more in after the shut off until I stopped him. I filled up one time in VA on the trip home, both times, the pump did not shut off. BUT, on the trip south on I-81 only got 38 mpg instead of the 42 on the way north. I found a web site showing the elevation changes on I-81 and there's a very decided advantage to going north as the altitude goes up almost all the way south. So that explains the discrepancy. We also drove about 75 mph on the way home, so I'm not disappointed.
  13. One fill was at a the station around the corner from my house and the other several states away while on my trip. I'll need to fill up today as the gas pump light is yellow. Will have my first 500 mile run and so I'll have to have a NJ gas jockey fill me up. (self fills not allowed in NJ).
  14. So we are just into our first long trip with Maxy, from Western NC to NJ up I-81, which is hilly and high speed. We drove with AC in temps around 80, car loaded and driving at around 73 mph much of the way. Got 42 mpg for the 650 or so miles, so I'm really pleased with that. We only filled up once during the trip and thumbed our noses at the gas stations the rest of the way. One problem: The last 2 fillips, I've not been able to use the gas pump on auto, but must "juice" the fuel in slowly or the pump clicks off. I didn't have that problem the first 2 fill-ups. Have others had this problem? Any solutions?
  15. Is synthetic oil really recommended for the hybrid?
  16. I've gotten mine so full, it won't react to brake action anymore.
  17. Apps for the iPhone...Inclinometer, Compass, Commander Compass...and of course Google Maps and Apple Maps.
  18. I know that you can display the gps coordinates in a hybrid without built in gps without going through the long procedure mentioned by DozerBob. Now, I don't remember what I did, but fooling around with buttons, I did bring up the lat/long readings on the bottom of the big screen. So, that brings up a question...could those of us without built in gps get that functionality by installing an SD card with the maps? And if so, would it be possible to copy someone else's maps database?--not that I would circumvent copyright... :) and PS, I believe that's how EV+ works on my car with the 300 package.
  19. I'll have to try again to see what's on line 1 Rob. I have learned that when I want to call my wife's iPhone, I need to say, call Barbara Mobile, not just Barbara. I guess Ford thinks my wife married someone named Mobile. However, I CAN say call Ted mobile and it repeats calling Ted mobile. So who knows. I just wish everything just worked with Siri.
  20. Using an iPhone 5 and when I select voice commands, say "call home" I'm presented with the message to select a line...home is the line 2. If I say line 2, it replies, calling Home Home. So, what's the deal. Why can't it realize I want to call home. Do I have to say, "call home home?" Something about the way my directory is set up on the phone? Thanks, Marty
  21. Obviously, I've figured it out. BTW, the iphone app Gas Tracker which is supposed to link to Fuelly does not work. The app crashes every time you try access your stats. This is evidently a known issue as their forum has other references. Any way, the mobile web page for Fuelly works really well and you can add an icon to the home page to have direct access to your vehicle. Marty
  22. BUT--does the Fuelly signature item update automatically or do you have to re-paste into the sig each time?
  23. Welcome fellow Tar Heel. My wife and my heights are the same as you and your wife. Seats are great fir both of us.
