Well, it took a while, but Ford has agreed to repurchase my vehicle. I got the official notification last week. So far, however, I haven't been able to get any information from Ford or my dealer about how this is supposed to proceed. The letter came without any information about who (at Ford) to contact with questions, etc. exept to tell me to contact the dealer. The dealer doesn't know what to do and hasn't returned my calls since last week. The Ford Customer Relationship Center referred me to the RAV (Re-Acquired Vehicle) department, but the "person handling my case" is out of the office "today". I don't expect instant results, but I'd like someone to, at least, tell me what the process is supposed to be. *sigh* This additional frustration sure doesn't make me feel good about the thought of buying a new Ford vehicle to replace the C-Max.

I think it was sometime last December, but I don't have the info with me...

I haven't decided what I would do next, yet. It depends on how long it takes, etc. since my options may be different, for example, if it spills into the next model year.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes my state lemon laws kick in after 4 failures (or 2 safety issue failures) or 30 days out of service. I have sent a letter to Ford to initiate the process  Like you, I like the car except for this issue, but it's a big one ("other than that, how did you enjoy the play, Mrs. Lincoln")

I just got my car back from its 4th service for the dead battery issue. This time, they had a Ford FSE help investigate. Instead of claiming to have done anything to address the issue, however, they basically admitted that they don't have a fix. They said they think it is a software issue but they're not sure when (if?) there would be a fix for that and advised me to "turn off the radio and don't touch anything else" before shutting down the car. They did check for water in the connectors. I understand it is a tough problem to isolate, but I'm very frustrated. Essentially, I don't have a car I can use for anything but local commutes, and can't even count on it for that.

Yes. My first failure was less than a week after I purchased the vehicle and it was at a friend's house (to which the car had never been before)...

Well, my SE died again this morning for the 4th time in 4 months. Slightly different behavior this time -- it actually wasn't dead when I got up in the morning and put some stuff inside. 3 hours later, when I was ready to head out, however, same as before: completely dead, no power, no lights, etc. I had had the appropriate TSBs addressed last month. We did have a bit of rain the last few days...

I have had similar experience. I just got my car back, this morning, from the 3rd dead battery incident. They installed the latest TSBs (but only after I pointed them out and insisted), so we'll see. I've also had poor mileage (~32 mpg lifetime average, so far, for 1400 miles). No-one at Ford or my regional server rep seem interested in talking about the poor mileage performance.

C-MAX Fuel Mileage. What are you getting?
barrier2entry replied to robertlane's topic in Fuel Mileage
I have about 1400 miles on mine and lifetime mileage (according to the car computer) is only around 32 mpg. I live in a moderate climate and generally don't need the heater. I've never turned on the A/C. I have been paying attention to driving and very cautious about acceleration, etc. When I tried to talk to the dealer about it, their only answer was "use better gas". -
Dead 12V Battery In My C-MAX
barrier2entry replied to RedLdr1's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
I've had the dead battery issue 3 times (the latest was this morning). In my case, even attempting to jump start did not help (it did let me shift into neutral, at least). The first time, after owning the car less than a week, they just recharged the battery. It failed again about 3 weeks later. After a week of tests, they decided they needed to replace the battery. I had no problems for almost 5 weeks after that -- until this morning. When I asked the dealer what they would try different from the last time, they just said they'd wait to see what Ford told them to do. *sigh*
