My mother in law just pulled out to leave our house and sideswiped my “new to me” 2013 C-Max hybrid. (No on was hurt, a pick up truck driven by “a maniac” “pushed her into my car” without contacting her car.) ... At any rate, there’s a notable dent and scrape to the left rear quarter panel and I would like to have the car repaired. I see the quarter panel goes for $600 or so and I assume it can still be obtained. I have the sparkly charcoal color, so it would need to be painted to match. Since I (she) is willing to pay whatever it costs, I do want it replaced rather than banged out. Am I better getting a Ford dealer to do this because of parts access, or find a good body shop locally? Thanks. Ugh. Insult to injury, I had spent a few hours washing it for the first time a couple of hours earlier in the day. Thanks. bp

Finally got MadMax back from the body shop after 6 long weeks! Would never know a buck bounced off the front of the car wrapping itself around the front fender. Fortunately I didn't have the physical problems Jus had with his accident and am happy he and Maxine have reunited to ring in the New Year together! Here are photos before, during and after for those who wonder what a C-Max looks like torn apart: Total cost including rental car exceeded $7,500! So far so good...car drives fine and getting good fuel mileage. It would appear that they did not disconnect the battery but they did ruin my fuel mileage from about 45mpg down to 34.4mpg ! I have managed to get it back up to 40.6mpg so I expect to finish out 44-45mpg on this tank. I reinstalled the old covers while I work on a new improved design. Happy New Year! I've really enjoyed participating on this Forum and the camaraderie we all share here. Here's to more excitement and information in 2014  Paul

Just posted some pix to the gallery from the crash I was involved in last Thursday March 7. A car failed to obey a stop sign and T boned me in the middle of the intersection. The impact was right in the drivers side door. I'm so thankful for the great side impact protection the C max has. All of the side air bags deployed. The car was still driveable, but I opted to take advantage of free roadside assistance and have it towed to the Ford dealer. The other driver's insurance company agreed to cover everything. It's been over a week and I still don't know if the car will be repaired or declared a total loss. The adjuster from the other drivers insurance company told me a few days ago that the damgae exceeded $12,000. Apparently if the damage is over $10K a supervisor has to rview the case. I don't know how many other C Max vehicles have been involved in crashes so far, but thought this real life incident would be of interest.

I was driving on some backroad doing about 40-45 and this small deer came out of the woods right in front of me. I swerved and caught it with the right front bumper. Looked in my mirror and saw it kinda limping back into the woods...its probably in worse shape than my C-Max is. A small crack in the plastic on the side and its pushed up a little. No metal damage or mechanical damage. A lot of scratches and a lot of deer hair. Its probably less than my $500 deductible, but then again...with the price of things and the painting and all...it may be more.
