Dealer says the audio module has failed. Replacing that is $1300. The car also needs 60K service, which is ~ $1257. Worth fixing? Another factor is I have 2 teenagers who have not yet learned to drive. The C-MAX is a good car to learn in because it's easy to drive and fairly small. Maybe keep the C-MAX but just do minimal maintenance, deal with having no audio and no audible backup sensor, and shop for a replacement car without being rushed? The car is at the shop right now, and I need to make a decision. Anyone have life advice for me? :)

I have a weird issue with my 2013 Ford C-Max. I park the car and turn off the car. When I open the door, the radio does not go off and none of the audio controls work. When I turn the car back on, none of the audio controls work and the hands-free voice activation doesn’t work. It’s happened 4 times. Each time I take it to the dealer. The first 2 times, they disconnected the battery and it started working properly. But each time it happened again after about 2 months. The third time they thought it was the radio so I paid $700 for a new radio. It happened again 2 months later. Right now they have no clue what’s wrong with it. They contacted Ford engineers but they are telling them to do stuff that they’ve already tried. Any ideas from this group would be greatly appreciated. Marilyn

Haven't had luck with any videos, forums, repair shops, etc. Decided to see if anyone here had a similar problem with a solution. Car: 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid May 2019: Started making popping sounds randomly through the speakers even when stereo was turned off. When stereo was turned on and the popping happened, the sound would immediately stop working. Display still worked, buttons still worked, just no sound. This was quickly fixed by turning off the car and turning it back on. December 2019: Popping sound got worse. It was like a constant stream of pops at this point. The radio pretty much never worked at this point. Display and buttons still worked. January 2020: Popping stopped completely, but now the display doesn't respond to the buttons. Time and date are still on, but the stereo screen doesn't appear when I push the button. When I push the button a second time, there's this little animation that the screen would normally show when the stereo was being turned off. The rear parking sensor alert sound has also stopped working. I'm curious if this is a speaker issue... I've taken apart the system but haven't seen anything unusual or out of place. All fuses are working properly, too. The dealer hasn't been much help, and a couple independent repairs shops have said the model is "too unique" to know for sure if they can fix it. ? Please let me know if anyone has any ideas!

Hello: I have a 2013 Ford C-Max. I was hit in the passenger side last summer (2017) and had to have my door was replaced. After that, my horn went out, so I took it back and they said they had to replace the entire steering column. Around the time that I got it back from the horn not working, we were coming home from a long trip, and my speakers popped and I had no sound. Radio buttons and screen were all good, but nothing was coming out of the speakers. We went to the gas station, turned off the car, went into the store, and came back out, started the car, and we had sound again. My speakers have been doing this periodically for months now, I have had it at the dealership 2 times, and they cannot figure out what is going on with it. This week, it has gotten worse, every time I get in the car, the radio comes on for about 3 seconds and then it's out. So if anyone has any certainty to what might be causing this. Please let me know. Thank you!

Apologies for yet another post about a dead cmax... I have a 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid only vehicle. In the two years I've owned it, it has been unable to start unassisted 6 times, leading to significant tow and repair costs. So far, nobody has been able to fix the problem. The very first time they found a loose relay in the trunk, and the 3rd time they replaced the battery, but five different shops including two dealerships have run diagnostics and been unable to find the problem causing this. The last three times have gone the exact same way. All in the last 6 months, with a less than 1 year old battery. First, the audio stops working--won't turn on or off with the power button, can't play radio or connect to a phone. Screen lights up and the navigation/menu system still works fine. Then, about two days later, the car will be dead. Won't unlock with the remote, no dome lights, nothing. Twice we have jumped it, and that completely fixes it--still took it to a shop each time, but it turns on and off like a champ and shows no other symptoms/no signs of battery draw. The most recent time we didn't even try to jump it and had it towed in dead so they could at least see we weren't making stuff up. Dealership had it for a week, didn't find any problems or offer any explanation. Just charged us for labor and diagnostics and sent us on our way. Anyone have any experience with these problems? I'm open to all options--preventatives, maintenance, work arounds, fixes, literally anything. I can't accept that I have a 6 year old car that won't start without a jump every 4 months. Any help is much appreciated!

Does anyone know how to remove the entire glovebox in a 2013 C-Max? I removed the 2 screws pretty easily but there seems to be a plastic screw that I just can't get to budge. Hopefully someone here has an idea for me.
