zalusky
I was driving my wife to an eye appointment and I had a choice of two different freeways 280 vs 101. I chose 280 because there is a lot of road construction with barriers, and crap everywhere.Just after I got on 280 the nice freeway a truck kicks up a rock and chips my windshield smak in the center of my view. I tried the repair but I still get a starburst that is hard to ignore although tiny. So friday its time for a new windshield. Sigh there is something about that first month with a new car. Anybody else have sorry news to report?

I remember when I had had my Jeep Liberty for only 6 months and was T-boned by a grocery cart going 22 mph in the parking lot! Hate those first time owies! It's a full moon, don'cha know? Jus-A-CMax
That's crap, sorry to hear about that. If you don't mind, let us know what it cost to replace that windscreen, as I think others would be in the same boat. By the way, I wonder about the availability given the CMax is relatively new. Laurel
Well that stinks! I guess you will have to pay a deductible? That's what we have to do in Canada.
roninsd
"I'm guessing a pretty penny due to the auto wipers sensor." I hadn't even thought of that. Crap! Well, on the positive side, you don't have to worry about having it painted after a body repair!
DozerBob
I've purchased the touch up paint pen thing too $12.50 at the dealer for Sterling Grey, rock chip in the spoiler. I would like to know the cost of windshield replacement though, I've replaced three in the last three cars. That Vegas run on a windy day eats them up. Sandblasted. Out of curiousity, I ran it through the SafeLite instant quote - 348.95 for Windshield green tint rain sensor, solar, with third visor band, soundproofing
Fits2at
What a bummer!! I almost had the same thing happen to me last week. The rock did hit the windshield but luckily it sustained no damage. Here in Indiana, they won't repair a chip if it is on the drivers side. I had to replace the windshield in my last car due to a dump truck dropping huge rocks out of the back of it on the freeway. That car got hit by a grocery cart in the parking lot within the first week I owned it. I parked out at the end of the row and everything. Put a nice little dent just behind the headlight. Talk about being mad..

I did NOT buy a mini-van! So I get:Windshield rain sensor, solar, with third visor band, soundproofing green tint: 378.95Windshield solar, with third visor band, soundproofing green tint: 629.95 I wonder if the website has them backwards? SBGrad
I was driving my wife to an eye appointment and I had a choice of two different freeways 280 vs 101. I chose 280 because there is a lot of road construction with barriers, and crap everywhere. Well that bites, BIG time. I spent my childhood on the Peninsula, and I always preferred 280 over 101-- still do. The views are much nicer, and there's usually less traffic-- at least there was in northern San Mateo county back i in the day
