Gabby
Hello, My 2014 C-Max SE had a moment last night displaying a warning light for 'High Coolant Temperature'. The Engine had not been on for over an hour and when I got in the car to turn it on It immediately displayed the High Coolant Temperature, See Owners Manual and to Stop Car Safely messages. These have never appeared before so I was concerned, though it could have been a computer glitch. I did notice some slight leak that appeared to be something other than water condensation, but once I got back in the car the messages never turned back on and the leak seems to have stopped. These particular messages were odd since the coolant could not have been overheating if the engine was just turned on. Is there a self diagnostic I can run through the dashboard? On my 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee you could turn the key three times and it would display a code if there were any errors. Thanks!
cr08
There's a second coolant system for the hybrid inverter. This is the small tank on the driver side of the engine compartment. Ensure that is at a proper level too. If it needs topped up, use the same called for Motorcraft coolant that's used for the ICE side. The high coolant temp message you got can come up for either the hybrid cooling system or the engine cooling system. Gabby
