Adair Posted February 3, 2013 Report Share Posted February 3, 2013 Our daughter had a 5k run in Novi, MI this morning, about 37 miles away so we took the C-Max. It was mostly highway driving and the temperature was +4*. There were 3 of us in the car, using defrost, bun warmers x2 and the heater, driving 65 mph on the higway portion, 40-45 on the back roads. During the race Jerry and I warmed up in the car, running the engine, then we drove back. Temps were only slightly better...maybe +10* but the sun was out. Still 65mph. This was a fresh tank of gas. 33mpg for the round trip. The navigation worked perfectly, and we were able to talk to the grandparents on the way home SYNCd with the phone. Jus-A-CMax Posted February 4, 2013 Report Share Posted February 4, 2013 5k in those temps ain't bad, I run the 5k & 10k and heat is the worst. Adair, hope your daughter did well. Tip....go check out the Skechers Go-run shoes, best running shoes I've ever ran in, super fit, light, great support and low profile. The ice on the roads was terrible and she didn't wear her screw shoes, so she was being super cautious..........which is exactly what we told her to do. She wasn't running for a PR, just a fun run, and her first race of 2013. Thanks for the info about the Skechers.
