Jus-A-CMax
Wash the baby this afternoon and found 2 pencil tip chips about 1/4 apart, right there slightingly above the eye line of the glass. One is slightly bigger than the other...so question...should I fix this or not? Its not cracking at the moment...
Wingrider01
take it to a reputable windshield repair have seen small chips develop in to cracks with the changes in temperature. A reputable shop will advise you if they need to be repaired, I always lean towards caution and get them fixed
valkraider
Always fix. Always always always. Most insurance plans pay 100% for chip repair. But even if not, all it takes is an odd temperature/humidity combination to ruin the windshield.
Jus-A-CMax
Yeah, I was sitting on the fence there, but you're right Wing & Valk, last thing I need are these 2 chips to become worse. I swear I did not even hear the hits.
roninsd
Agree. Since they're small, they will be easier to fix, and much cheaper than getting a new windshield when they start to spread@

valkraider
I had a tiny chip that lasted for years with no problems. One morning, not particularly cold but enough that I needed to defog the windows, I turned on defrost and heard CRACK ant the chip turned into a crack that split the window 3/4 of the way across all the way to the side. Another unpatched chip got bigger in a car wash. After that I decided the gamble was just not worth it. Even if the chip patch is not invisible, it should always fill the holes so that moisture can't get in there and seal it up to almost always prevent spreading. zalusky
I had mine fixed but I could still see a startburst and it was straight at eye level so I got the window replaced.
