A4 map????

Recommended Posts

As valkraider said, when we are eligible to upgrade to 3.5.1., which should be soon (this month???), you will first request a A4 card be sent to you via FEDEX on syncmyride.com and then you download 3.5.1. from the same website onto a USB flash drive, then intall them.  All other MFT Fords already are eligible for the upgrade, but those of us with hybrids/battery vehicles (Fusion, CMax, Energi, etc) that are not very recent builds (within the last month or so) are not eligible to upgrade yet.  Again, it should be very soon.

would be surprised if it is this month. I opened a ticket to ford on this subject, took them a week to get back to me and the vehicle technology specialist had no idea when it would be available. He promised to email or call me by 5:00 PM on Friday with some more information - 7:30 AM on Saturday and no email or phone call, the update has been promised real soon now since December 10th.

I was at my dealer last night and the Service Writer I regularly use said the 3.5.1 upgrade and A4 maps are not due for release until the end of this month....

will believe it when I see it - the dealer I do business with has no idea either just like the ford tech specialist I spoke to

I "hear" you...  There is a note on OASIS, Ford's Service software, that he got the info from so he is just giving the party line to me...but that's the best info he has available.    Now I need two sets of it so I'll complain twice as much... ;)

If the upgrade isn't available, then why does the one on the showroom floor have the A4 SD card?  Or are these two different things, the maps and software?  The dealers service guy said they are the same thing.

New C-Max's coming off the line have the update and the new card.  It's just not available yet for updating afterwards.

The navigation card version is tied to the MFT version of the software.

they have the a4 card, the a4 card is available, if you have a nav system you do not download the update for a car with NAV, you get a new card from the dealer, same as the cars coming from the manufacturer with it.

A4 = New map + 3.5.1 update for both version of cars - early adopters and new delivery cars to the dealer

No they are the same thing, the updates are not available for early adopters but for anyone that buys the car now has it

I believe you can get it FedEx'd too.

There not available.  The dealership had one and gave it to me.  But I can't use it until the upgrade is available.

Interesting, must be unique to this car, have had other navigation equiped fords that had sync and was able to update the map version without having to update sync. Had to admit this is the first ford since 1973 that I am really regretting leasing, the support and assistance is not there. Was promised a call back or email one way or the other on thsi and other issues that have been occuring with the car by 1:30 Friday afternoon last week from one of the ford tech specialists - it is now 6AM on Monday - no call, no email. Begining to doubt I will see one

So the best we know is...that if one has Nav, the upcoming A4 card is all one needs for be able to update Sync and the Nav, and one has to request the A4 card once available. Then just replace the A3 card and all is "current." Do you think the dealers will have the A4 card for us, if we go there, or must the A4 card be requested (why won't Ford automatically send it to us since they know who we are?)??? Mine was built Jan 7 and has an A3 card.

(FYI...haven't had any issues mentioned in the Forum, and the lifetime mileage per the car's info is 40.3 mpg, with 1,158 miles on the odometer. Temp range 30-80 degrees and about 50/50 "city/highway" miles.)

Thanks in advance for any clarification, and what you think your degree of certainty is.

It's not unique to this car.

It is unique to this particular update.

The MFT 3.5.1 update made some changes to the nab system which requires a new nav data card.

Normally, the nav data card can be updated without needing a system update. This particular instance they changed something which impacted both the application and the data (probably modified the data structure for the nav data).

That's not true.  The MFT software also has to be updated and this is by taking a USB thumb drive with the update and inserting into the car.  The dealer does the same thing (AFAIK) by taking it to them.

If you have NAV, you need the A4 card when you get the new mft update.  Otherewise, you need the A3 card.

what I still find amazing

1. C-Max's are coming off the assemble lines with the 3.5.1 and A4 map card - so it is positively out there and running

2. early adopters are still waiting for the update that is available and the map card

What is the deal with ford and the forgotten early purchasers of this car?
