Retired1
Does anyone know how to apply for Federal and New York State tax credits and how much would that be? Thanks, Retired1
C-MaxJaxon
The EPA site shows how to claim the Federal credit. No idea if there's a NY state credit available. http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/taxphevb.shtml Retired1
wab
Better Hurry! http://green.autoblog.com/2012/01/03/republican-congressman-calls-for-end-of-7-500-plug-in-vehicle-t/ "On December 30th, Kelly introduced H.R. 3768, which seeks "To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to repeal the credit for plug-in electric drive vehicles." "Amending" in this case simply mean to eliminate the up to $7,500 tax credit that the Code currently offers to people who buy a plug-in car. The highest rate comes from vehicles like the Volt that have a battery that's at least 16 kWh, but even the Toyota Prius Plug-In, with its 4.4-kWh pack, would offer buyers $2,500 back. H.R. 3768 would take this all away, and plug-in vehicles have already just lost three federal tax incentives." Retired1

joe
Be glad you don't live in Virginia. The governor (Republican) is going to tax hybrids and electric cars $100 a year for consuming less gasoline - an thus paying less gasoline taxes. But in the same bill, the governor eliminates the tax on gasoline and will get transportation revenue by increasing the general sales tax. If he gets his way, no one will pay gas taxes but the hybrids and electrics will be singled out for being fuel efficient.
wab
WOE I thought I was against ANY tax increase How can this be???Republican Congressman Mike Kelly introduced H.R. 3768
C-MaxJaxon
It makes more sense to put a graduated guzzler tax on vehicles that get lower fuel economy to encourage buyers to pick more efficient models.
