JohnnOhio
Just wanted to share what happened to me today. I live in the country so I see all kinds of animals around my place, but didn't expect this. I was waxing my baby out in the yard. I was sitting on the ground waxing the passenger side back door when a humming bird flew right up to me and was hovering 12 inches from my face. He stayed there for about 10 seconds and then flew over to the front door of my Maxie. He hovered around the HYBRID logo on the door for a few seconds then flew back to my face before flying off. I was amazed to have this happen. I just figured out what he was doing. He was saying thanks for driving a hybrid and saving his home. Wish I could have recorded it. That would have made a good comercial for Ford. I can see it now. Show the clip and finish with (Ford Saving the environment one tank at a time) and a little blurb over the humming bird saying Thank you Ford :wub2: Wait until I get back to work and tell my buddies at the Ohio EPA. They will get a kick out of it. Well back to waxing. SnitGTS, hybridbear, Noah Harbinger and 5 others

Adair
SO COOL!!! Are you typing from your phone? Can you try to grab an image if it happens again?
fotomoto
I wonder if they think the green part of hybrid badge looks like a flower. Your story sounds like it came right out of the movie, "The Life of Pi". :)
JohnnOhio
I sat there for an hour waiting and nothing. I was hoping to get a picture, but they never came back. Just a lady bug came to visit thats all

Recumpence
That is cool. I will go WAAYYY out on a limb here and share that I am not a typical hybrid driver. I am not politically liberal. I am a moderate with conservative tendencies. I share that because I am the only "Conservative" I know that is, in any way, concerned for the environment. I must say, some people go a bit overboard and throw the baby out with the bathwater when it comes to "Saving the environment". But, I find that a little goes a long way in reducing emissions. For one thing, I remember when I was a kid, you could not go for a drive without smelling like exhaust when you got home. I remember a cloud of smoke coming out of every tailpipe on the road. Thank God we are not there anymore........ Anyway, it is not difficult to recycle, drive a bit slower (in a hybrid), and be less of a consumer and more of a reuser. :) Matt ScubaDadMiami and SnitGTS
armoredsaint
Sorry it was a drone spying on you ;) BTW are you in SE Ohio? During Memorial Day weekend we spend the whole week in hocking hills and drove about 400 miles in the rolling hills
StoBro2
The birds around here are only interested in my C-Max for target practice. fotomoto
JohnnOhio
Stobro I had a robin here once that would stand on the door mirrors and crap all down the sides of my car and truck. Didn't know a bird could crap that much. He would white wash both sides on both vehicles in one day. I would wash it off and in just minutes he was back :rant2: I chased him off and he would come right back. Had to take him out with a paintball gun to get him to stay away. Moms house the birds use every car there for target practice. Everytime I go over to visit I have to wash off the crap on the way home
Recumpence
I have come to the conclusion that new cars attract birds, period...... Matt

JohnnOhio
They are wild turkeys in my front yard. I've been hearing them gobble for a while now. This is the first time seeing them. Maxie was in the garage this time when they showed up. Sorry

Well back to waxing.I had something similar happen when I was waxing my GMC.....came to the conclusion they were after the sweet smell of the carnuba wax, thinking it was a flower.
