ScubaDadMiami
I have never had a problem parallel parking, but it was part of the package (303A) on my vehicle. I finally gave it a test yesterday, and I was highly impressed! Yes, it worked exactly as it was advertised. I hit the button and turned on my right hand signal direction. The screen told me to move to the car ahead of the spot. It told me to stop and shift into R. It turned the wheel to the right as I backed up, and then it spun left as I backed into position. The camera, rear alert and Park Assist told me when to stop, when pull forward, and when to make the final stop, in position. Sounds just like it should, right? So, what's the big deal about that? I wish that I had thought to take pics to show just how perfectly parked the C-MAX ended up. Sure, I was in great position between the car in front and in back of me. What really impressed me, however, was that my front and rear tires were perfectly equal in distance from the curb, about two inches away. The car just could not have been more perfectly parallel to the curb. It was very close and even, from front to back. Impressive! :) C-MaxSea
salsaguy
great. I'm surprised more here haven't commented yet about this feature.i too plan to get the 303a package when we get our CMax.hhi have issues now parallel parking due to not being able to fully turn my neck after my surgery, and with my big Passat it's alot different compared to my last and i cant judge the front and back numbers very well as i can't see them. my new rear camera will help me a lot.can't wait to try the park assist feature.you do have to give it the gas and press the brakes and the car just turns the wheels for you, correct? Laurel
We have had a few posts over the past months on the park assist. One fellow forgot to put his foot on the brake and yikes had a major fender bender. I love our park assist, but got heart palpitations the first couple of times I tried it and got an attack of the nervous giggles. Bruce Z
I love the park assist, I can parallel park myself with no problems, but it is so much fun to use and too see the looks on your passengers faces when you use it. I get the giggles every time it parks itself perfectly. I've shown of the car to anyone who will listen and so far the consensus from everyone is they love it. Cheers, Bruce Adair and C-MaxSea

The big drawback about the Active Park Assist is that not all dealerships have a demo area set up for consumers to try it out. We've used it a couple of times, in the 9 months since getting Neytiri (our C-Max).
salsaguy
don't they let you try it when you do the test drive? i would think it would be a key selling point to make it a no brainer. In our case, it wasn't until after we bought Neytiri that we even had a chance to try the active park assist, as the dealership did not have an area set up to showcase it. Yes, Active Park Assist is a great selling point, as parallel parking is becoming a lost art as only time you see parallel parking anymore is really within the big cities or in areas that are predominantly on-street parking.
