Installed GasPods on liftgate

Here is my latest GasPod configuration.  I've added as a test before shopping them off to Brother Jus, 7 of my black gaspods.  I'm trying to see if there is any change to my AvMPG over my usual daily commute (13 miles one way) while we are having this unseasonably dry winter with no rain in the forecast for the next 10 days.  Also if it helps keep the backend of Maxus cleaner, I just washed her on Friday during my last service and maintenance visit to Frontier Ford.  Fingers crossed.

Ha! someone has to always be poking at the Prius, right?  We'll see if this configuration proves anything.  BTW since writing my earlier thread I went out into my shop (garage) and poked through my supply of 1 inch thick clear Acrylic sheets.  Wanted black but I don't have any long enough in 1 inch thick to fabricate two copies of my knock off of the factory airfoils to put on either side of the rear window.  Will be a challenge to shape the aero surfaces with the limited tools I have at my disposal.  Wish I had access to the tools that Paul I guess it is has for all his aero mods fabrication work. :)

Well I'm continuing to experiment with gaspod placement.  I changed from 9 pods along the width of the rear spoiler to 7.  The two white pods which were removed are now positioned down on the side of the car near the leading edge of the rear glass.  I did this since seeing the addition and placement of the new air deflectors on a new 2014 Energi.  Also I added some pods along the bottom edge of the rear glass in hopes of cleaning the airflow over this area as a response to the findings from the recent tuft testing by one of our members.

I'm not clear at this point of any improvement this may have made, however since doing so I'm seeing a steady increase in my mpg numbers on trip2 at the end of my daily commute and driving over my usual route observing the usual hypermile techniques.  Below shows my screenshots for the last two days.  Before making these changes I was seeing 42.2 as my daily number.  My overall AvMPG number has also increased from just 40.3

Now granted the bayarea ha been seeing allot of spring like weather this week with daytime temps staying in the high 60's and low 70's with clear skies.  I'd almost welcome some rain right now as we are going to be in a world of hurt next summer with water rationing if we don't see some serious rainfall in the months of February, March and April.  Especially since our rainfall totals last winter were very low.

Thanks Susanne, yes I'm having fun and getting creative with placement of the GasPods.  Since adding these black ones in addition to the white magnetic ones.  I'm seeing a huge increase in MPG, attached is a photo I shot on Wednesday from the onboard screen on my dashboard.  I've never seen an MPG number this high while driving in town on surface streets

Mike, you make me LOL. Isn't it amazing how your MPG's go way up when your battery is full or was that all down hill? LOL  We need to do some tuff testing to get a handle on ware to put GasPods. I'm looking for a real good camcorder. :)

I was thinking about clear thin sheets and brace them at different widths and angles. Need to do tuff testing. :)

What, no love for my tuft test?

Or would you prefer an upright image? Picky, picky...

It would be interesting to see if someone else sees what I did! I've also got some interesting salt pics... C-Max vs. Volt, when I get time.

Actually Paul that was all pretty much level driving with the exception of a few overpasses I had to climb but I made every attempt to keep my RPM at or below 2000 during the climb.  I own a Canon XHA1 prosumer HD DV tape camcorder which I use for all my professional gigs, i.e weddings, life memorials video podcasts for my church.  Cost me $4k, also a 5.3 megapixels Sony AVCHD Handycam.  A GoPro3 white series.

I guess you got all the bases covered, I only want to spend $400.
