You're the best Laurel

I am going to have a new avatar...but this time,it will be to honor Lydia Ko. The 16 year old amateur from our neighbor (New Zealand) who won the CN Womens Canadian Open, the same time Adam Scott won - its a GREAT TIME for the Australian/New Zealand Golfing World  golfer.gif

For those who do not know, Lydia DEFENDED her title that she won last year as a 15 year old. At that time, she was the youngest ever winner on the LPGA but it is unheard of to defend a title. Let alone as an amateur golfer.

Tiger Woods had a remarkable amateur career but he never did what Lydia has done - to win 3 professional titles as an amateur, against the pros. The spirit of :worship:  Bobby Jones lives in her :happy feet:

And congratulations to our Canadian neighbor for putting on such a STERLING tournament for the ladies, the crowds were amazing and thank god there was no stupid idiots yelling "mash potatos" or "in the hole".....

PS Adam will make a comeback in the week after...gotta support my boy :)  For those of us living here in Los Angeles, we did not get to see the CBS telecast due to an ongoing dispute between Time Warner and CBS over the re-transmission fees. CBS wants more money while TW won't give. CBS blacked out the TW cable subscribers as well until last week in this tit-for-tat world...so I got to watch Lydia win. Yah!

Now I am going to go to the range and work on my driver.

...and YES, I am a Golf Nut as well. I use to drive 290-300 (best was 344 yards, GPS measured) when I was a 3 capper but in the last 2 years, I had to stop playing due to lack of funds but now that I am back to a regular job, I am playing again and rebuilding the swing.

If you thought 833.8 miles was tough in a CMax, then try golfing....its way harder to be consistent. The PGA and LPGA professionals make it look so easy and have got great imagination and shot making abilities.

Thanks Laurel, this thread was a surprise and it really made my day. Yes, I had a good driving session on the range, looking forward to a round of gold next Labor Day weekend.

She is a sweet looking girl, and her she is with some of our guys in red serge.

Thanks Laurel, I was looking for photos and yours was the best source :)

Yeah, Lydia is going to be elevate womens golf to a whole new level. 3 huge wins and shes still very down to earth - its such a great story, and good for Kiwi Golf as well.

Next week, its back to Adam Scott avatar...

Holy crap...I decided to play golf today, arranged a tee time at 1PM and it was 97F and I walked with my clubs and played from the tips. I nearly died with the heat exhaustion, rode 2 holes in the cart while I recovered....and drank nearly 1.5 gallons of water. Its suppose to be fun, but I made the stupid mistake of misjudging the heat, plus we had 3 slow morons in front of us which held us up for about 9 holes while I baked ans stewed over some of my crap shots.

I did so look forward to this after watching the Ko and Scott wins last weekend, even lashed out on a pre-owned driver yesterday: Adams Fast 12 LS with the Fubuki Alpha, and when I hit it on the screws, baby...it was long ... :headspin:

We were done and 2 beers later at the 19th, I headed back...AC was on and it was a fast ride back to home. 36.6 MPG, didn't care eco-cruise. However, I never did see the "dancing" I use to see with the older ICE High MPG. God I miss that mode....she would be dancing in the 50s, this one only hangs around the 40MPG mark at 68mph.... :gold_star:

Jus,

Have you noticed a significant drop in performance since getting the update?...should I get the update?...I don't want to lose any power(I live on a big hill).

I am not a hypermiler...and I know I can get the high ICE.  Should I give that up in your humble opinion?  Just looking for your two cents....

Thanks

I would say that you do not get a drop at all since the 3.5.2 MFT which included a PCM update...mind you, I do not see a significant increase either. At best, 1 or 2 MPGs which for me, is a squirt or 2...another words, I can't really tell with the driving that I do - which is hypermile it anyway. Perhaps the update is geared for those who don't hypermile.

This 13b07 looks like it is a plus net - but I say that with a caveat that I lost the ICE High MPG. Some drivers here use a "blip" technique to invoke it but it's nothing like the old ICE High MPG that I know, which dances after a 2-3 miles but this one only stays around the 40MPG mark, don't see much dancing...ugh.

If I had a redo, I'll probably keep the 3.6.2 and leave it at that. The 63+ EV, while it appears nice, comes with that price that I mentioned before. Note, I have not done my Mammoth trip yet, thats going to tell me if this 65+EV is a load of crock or not since I do 285 miles 500to 7,800 elevation change.

For climbing hill, you won't see a difference. All I can say is, keep it at 2 bar to keep charging - without bugging the crap out of the driver behind you..there is no hybrid or car that can climb without burning gas, even the Tesla loses X miles per X feet as well. My 2c.

Hey thanks for your 2 cents.

You have been huge help here with all of your posts.  This one just helps me really in the short term.  Would love to hear how the trip to Mammoth goes.  Are you going to be doing that here in real soon(sept - Nov)?

I am road tripping to So-Cal in December that is 1200 miles of highway joy ( round trip 2400 miles ). I will also miss high ICE if i opt to get the update but when cruising between stockton and the grapevine i am guessing speeds are pretty much 70-75+ so high ICE is pretty much gone at those speeds anyways.

As for the hill,  its a 6% grade two bars is brutally slow but doable if no one is behind me.  I would rather have performance just for this topical feature of my neighborhood but since you have said there isnt a significant drop in performance, my fears are calmed.

After the update, I immediately did a similar length trip but at even higher legal speeds (75-80mph) with a fully loaded car + cargo carrier + heavy a/c use and still netted 37.5mpg overall.  I suspect you'll get much better out there in cooler weather.  My suggestion:  set the eco-cruise and enjoy the drive.    :shift:  The difference between the EPA highway rating of 40mpg and real world interstate driving of 37mpg meant a whopping difference of 4.8 gallons on my trip.

My longest day was 12 hours and I felt fine at the end of the day; very comfortable car. :puppy_kiss:

Yeah, 2 bar is slow and like I said, if it ain't bother anyone, jus do it otherwise, do what you can. I climb the Sherwin Grade, north of Bishop and THAT IS TRULY brutal..I cringe as I watch 2 to 3 MPG just blown away on the climb.

So...if you are down in SoCal...north Los Angeles...may I suggest you put a trip down Box Canyon from the 118 to 101 via Valley Circle, Kannan from the 101 to the PCH on your list of "must drive" CMax roads....EV all the way to Malibu for a cold drink at the Chart House.

I think you'll enjoy the ocean and valley views from these roads (take a look at one of my Jus Photos threads in the Lounge) and I guarantee you - if you head the direction I just layed down - you'll be 100% battery and EV all the way down. Its a ton of fun :)

Oi...welcome to the forum by the way
