I was hoping there'd be a mod (perhaps using OpenXC technology) to have an MP3 of my choosing play. 

 

For lack of any other ideas, the sound of horse/sleigh bells comes to mind from a previous post here.  "Pock et Ta Pock et Ta"… just does't sound fun.

 

Alternately, the sound of a big semi-tractor engine is appealing too.

At Pep Boys I found a little back up alarm with simple hook up for 12$.  A quick test, it gives a beep beep that is a little shriller than I would like so I'm going to put it in a plastic bag for water protection and mount it somewhere under the car.  Then run a wire to a mini push button switch I'm going to mount near the 4-way flasher button and feed it from the fuses under the glove box.  There is on 20 A unused one there that is quite accessible.  Another project along with my LED DRL waiting for me to get to.

marshtex2 will he interested in hearing about your DRL project, I love my DRL's both in the front grille and under each headlight using the adhesive side mounted ribbon lights.  I prefer the side mount LED's since they show forward better than pointing up like cheaper models from places like Pep Boys.  I bought mine online from Amazon.
