  1. My 2013 was white platinum and l didn't know then it was supposed to be something special. Grew to like it less and less especially considering repair expense and matching. The Oxford white on the 2015 helped grab into trading. Love it.
  2. Thanks for the tips. I use Trip 1 for fuel fill ups & Trip 2 for misc trip info.
  3. Is973800H, thanks for those details. Although my C-Max is not an Energi plug–in, the screens seem to be the same as you describe. With the navigation screen I have had it take me to a requested destination and it did give turn by turn directions. However, it seemed to be a bit flakey, e.g., occasionally it didn't speak out on a turn that it did show on the map and once it let me miss the turn and didn't say a word; maybe I didn't give it time because I knew where I wanted to go anyway and turned around and quickly got back on track. At the end it told me how long I took but I didn't see how far I drove. Yes, I see the street name I'm driving on but I wish the print were larger. A couple of things from my old Garmin aftermarket GPS I would dearly like to find on the Ford but can't. 1. The name of the next upcoming cross street. 2. A trip-computer screen that gives info like driving time, stopped time, total time, average moving speed, average overall speed and max speed. I'm hoping those things are there but I just haven't figured out how to bring them out yet. Help, anyone?
  4. Some answers here. This 2015 does have Sync. I never see a whole screen full of leaves like came up on the right on my 2013 C-Max. Phone calls overlay the right screen but go away after I've handled them. Entertainment things come up on the large MFT screen. M
  5. These pix are of one of my favorite settings on my 2015 C-Max SE with the Group 203A package. In the MFT Screen the engine had come on and is charging the batteries.
  6. The Etis gives what looks like the whole build details for the car. The info on the window sticker is trivial in comparison and I have that sticker from the window, don't need to use the link to see it.
  7. Yes, my 2013 had only leaves or a compass on the screen to the right of the speedometer and the little central display was not a touch screen at all. My 2015 MFT screen is 7" wide.
  8. Hi Scottwood2 When I mention right display, I mean the display that is immediately to the right of the speedometer. After surfing through the owner's manual, I got that display's options to come forward by working with the steering wheel's right-side OK button system. When I refer to the bigger display that is just under the CD slot in the center of the dashboard I have called it the large central viewing screen and its options come up by use of the touch screen. I do not know if anything changed with the displays for the 2015 model but it looks like all this is linked to the Group 203A package.
  9. The 2014 C-MaX Energy that comes up in Etis with my VIN does not show the same options as my 2015 C-Max SE. Where can we get all that car-build info like come up on Etis?
  10. The 2014 C-MaX Energy that comes up in Etis with my VIN does not show the same options as my 2015 C-Max SE. Where can we get all that car-build info like come up on Etis?
  11. Thanks for your interest and info. Yes, I confirmed the VIN with what is showing under the windshield. I would hope to contact that site and tell them something needs to be fixed.
  12. Trying to get build info on my new 2015 model, I go to http://www.etis.ford.com/, key in the VIN (triple checked for accuracy) 1FADP5AU3FL102479 and the wrong car comes up, a 2014 C-Max Energi. Mine is clearly not an Energi and was sold to me as a 2015 model.
  13. My 2013 SE Hybrid was the basic model, about as low a MSRP as we can get, the only extra was white platinum paint, almost $500 extra. While at the dealer for 20,000 mile service I looked at what was available that would provide the big central view screen that included GPS. First noticed was a SEL model. Then the salesman checked their inventory and found a 2015 SE that had the big central view screen (part of Group 203A, $2,235), was oxford white (just plain white, no $ extra). had a keyless entry keypad on the driver's door ($95), This would get me the fabric seats that I prefer and the MSRP was about $3,000 less than the similar SEL model that had white platinum paint. With about 200 miles on this new 2015 C-Max SE Hybrid, I'm finding it very OK. The 203A group provides a power hatch back, back-up proximity beepers, daytime running lights, a big central view screen and a display on the right of the speedometer that provides several options. The information display on the left of the speedometer is about like was on my basic 2013 model: a resettable trip 1, trip 2 and other options. The keyless entry pad on the driver's door means I won't get locked out, just key in the entry code. Many things about the 2015 model seem a little snappier than the 2013. I can set up both the right and large central viewing screens so that good graphics show up on electric and ICE running and MPG at instantaneous, near term and re-settable long term time frames. I'll likely not have to find a place to mount the little Scangauge numerical display. ** Already need help, Rebecca, I go to http://www.etis.ford.com/, key in the VIN (triple checked for accuracy) 1FADP5AU3FL102479 and the wrong car comes up, a 2014 C-Max Energi. Mine is clearly not an Energi and was sold to me as a 2015 model. I am wondering, for the 2015 models have we heard of any of the 12 V battery problems as came with the earlier models?
  14. You are getting lots of info to work with. Read my post QUICK RELIEF FROM DEAD BATTERY SYNDROME. Having even the smallest jump start battery pack on hand can reset the battery control module in a minute or less and you're on the road again. It seems that if the updates are installed, this syndrome hardly ever happens anymore.
  15. No wind of consequence.
  16. The elevation difference was about 400 feet and the lowest mpg came on the down hill part of the trip where I stayed on Eco-Cruise+ up and down hill. I am not insensitive about interfering with faster traffic. I was on light to very lightly traveled I-5 and I-505, way up north, nothing like LA. A lot of cars passed me but none had to struggle along behind me. Especially I respect the big rig's need to not get trapped behind a slow poke.
  17. MPH vs MPG I made a nominally 200 mile trip twice in a day. C-Max odometer = 206 mi., GPS = 210 mi Trip 1, 8:00 – 12:00 am, 60 deg to 80 deg. GPS moving average 53.8 mph. C-Max puter = 51.2 mpg. Trip 2, 4:00 – 8:00 pm, 80 deg to 60 deg. GPS moving average 54.6 mph, C-Max puter = 48.1 mpg. Driving technique: On trip 1 I let it slow down to about 50 mph on the up-hill parts. On trip 2 I mostly put in on Eco-Cruise at about 57 mph and let it go that way up hill and down hill. Result: At speeds around 54 mph a 1.5% increase in speed gets a 5.9% increase in fuel consumption. Worth it?
  18. Hi dhouse1946, check the thread "QUICK RELIEF FROM DEAD BATTERY SYNDROME". Maybe you can get it going without having to call someone.
  19. Hey fourfins, check the thread "QUICK RELIEF . . . "
  20. Hey stevedebi, you have given us the answer, get deep enough down inside things and they are different. So there, QED.
  21. By the way, at the dealership they also checked the cold cranking amps of the battery, 425 vs. a spec of 390. The battery is great. Now this discussion has morphed from the dead battery syndrome to all about whether the C-Max and Fusion hybrid systems are the same or different. Crystal, can't you go to Ford where somebody must really know and get the official answer to that?
  22. Well you are referring to hard hardware, engine, tranny, etc. What about the control modules and their software? They may be different and that could make the difference in what we are seeing/experiencing. We should get on Ford's case to put the Fusion hybrid's less troublesome system in the C-Max. That might even get me to trade in for the upgrade!
  23. Surfing into the Ford Fusion Hybrid forum and looking at their battery complaints one sees that they are very different from ours. Most all are messages coming up about some system problem. However, I have a friend who has a Fusion Energi she was just loving until a one-time event going down the road and the message came up to pull off the road immediately something was failing. She did that. Shut if off. Pondering what to do next, then turned it back on it started as usual and was able to drive off like nothing ever happened and it stayed that way. Later took it to the dealership who checked it all out, got no indication of anything wrong.
  24. Paul, but how do you explain the difference shown for C-Max and Fusion in Consumer Reports?
  25. My dear 2013 C-Max SE nuked me with a battery failure Tuesday, March 17, 2015. (VIN 1FADP5AU0DL511701, odometer 16,859 miles). This was 14 months and ~10 K miles since the last time it happened and at that time it was "fixed" by "re-flashing the FCDIM 13B12B". That was January 1014 after peculiar behavior and failing the second time in a week or so. Basically had zero voltage available. No reaction to/by anything electrical. Using a battery charger I had found that the battery seemed to recharge surprisingly quickly. I had discovered that the emergency fix was easy. Here's the story. Nothing wrong with the battery, the problem is in a control module (that had been re-flashed) it cuts off the 12 V supply to everything. Hooking up a battery charger or jump-start battery isn't recharging a bad battery. The control module is reactivated by briefly exposing it to 12- 14 V, a minute or so or maybe just for a few seconds and whamo, everything is back to normal. So I did that again and it is going on a week now and everything is completely normal. So there, folks. See if this works for you if/when needed and let us hear about it. The next day, with my perfectly running C-Max, I went to my nearby Ford dealership and their service people checked out the battery system. "Performed 3 battery tests, all passed. Performed ECC tests, passed. No codes present. Uploaded to Ford. Will contact customer if Ford so advises". It looks like they got into the high voltage as well as the 12 volt system. They did not re-flash anything this time. I have just noticed in the latest Consumer Reports auto issue, the C-Max hybrid is rated unreliable in things electrical whereas the Fusion hybrid, after the first year looks very good. I mentioned this to the service foreman and he said they are not the same system at all. I thought they were the same.
