emcdonnell
Took my wifes c-max in for the recall on the restraints control module programming. I noticed the dash airbag light was on as I was driving it to the shop (wife says it just came on the day before). A week later the car is still in the shop because the restraints control module is bad and there are no parts available anywhere that my dealer can find. The dealer can't get a solid estimate from Ford on when the part will be available. It is just back ordered. Could be another week, maybe another month, maybe who knows how long. They say they've escalated the issue to the district manager, but that could just be happy talk to try and placate me. They've given us a free rental car (hyundai elantra.....sigh......), but we really miss the c-max. I like driving my wife's c-max so much that I was thinking about buying one for myself to drive around when I didn't need the cargo capacity of my F150. But this parts shortage stuff has me seriously rethinking that plan. I was researching things on the web and it seems like part shortages are now a major issue for Ford, GM and Chryler, but especially for Ford. Who wants to be plunking down a big chunk of change for a new car that ends up parked at the dealer because parts aren't available to maintain it? How the heck did Ford get themselves in this situation? Anybody else having problems getting parts for their c-max? Ed
fotomoto
Nope. This is the first case I've heard of. Previously I owned a 2010 Prius (my first hybrid) which is Toyota's third generation and still being produced today. Some current owners are losing their power inverters (which have a recall for a new software update to help with cooling) with up to two month waits. They are given the same explanation you got. Shoot a PM my way with your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership; I'll start researching some ways to assist. emcdonnell
Good news this morning. Thanks to some help from Crystal, Ford has authorized a part pull from production and is shipping the part to my dealer by Fedex. We should be back cruising in our C-Max early next week. I can't wait!! Ed Singoffpitch, fotomoto and C-MaxSea
MichaelM
Thanks for the feed back @emcdonnell. In many of the posts here the Ford reps offer service by asking to PM. I understand the reasoning for it. However its seldom that we ever find out the resolution and its good to know that they are able to help when it seems that all other attempts have hit the virtual brick walls. Great job at problem solving by Crystal.

Ponypower
I just turned 5000 miles on my 2014 cmax. Not one single problem! I am getting 600 miles per tank of gas on regular basis. This car draws circles around the 2012 ford focus I previously owned. Enjoy the ride!!
Singoffpitch
My 2013 C-Max was just in for 7 days for this same problem and the part was back-ordered for 6 of the 7 days. It made my airbag warning light, traction control light, and the wrench warning light all go on and disabled the air bags and traction control. It also disables 911 Assist when the module goes bad. I had already had the restraint control module recall repaired a month prior to it malfunctioning. This is the 7th time I've had a pretty major problem with my C-Max and the 3rd time I've been without my car for multiple days in a row while a part was backordered. I also had to wait for a part when the air conditioning stopped working and a part for the fuel tank. Three dealerships haven't been able to change my air filter that was supposed to be changed at 20,000 miles (now at 39,000 miles) because they can't get it in stock.
