timwil56
So I assume the cutout on the (from the driver's point of view) right side is to accomodate the USB ports? If so, I might pick one up.I assume that's why there's a open area. There's also a small punch out on the bottom rear that a new 9 point iPhone/iPod connector will fit through. The old style won't fit through the punch out, too wide. Here's a rough sketch of the dimensions, obviously not to scale. stevedebi
My new tray from E-Bay/China arrived today. It's much improved over the stock tray and also better than the slightly deeper tray I got from E-Bay/China for my Escape. It says it doesn't fit the C-Max, but obviously it does. Check it out here:http://www.ebay.com/itm/221657050447?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT IMG_1043.JPG IMG_1044.jpg IMG_1047.jpgYou know, I actually prefer mine the way it came. I can pull out my cleaning cloth or USB cable without removing the tray.
Kelleytoons
The tray is almost worthless for anything, though, and there is a ton of wasted space (because everything else is WAY too deep to reach easily). I ordered the new one and we'll see -- I don't use the USB connectors for anything anyway (and my phone certainly stays in my pocket -- heck, that's why I have the Apple watch <g>) but perhaps there will now be enough depth to actually store some things handily. In all my cars, I throw my wallet in the centre console top tray along with my keys and whatever else I dont want in my pocket for the drive. In the C-Max I find the tray is not deep enough so my wallet goes down into the abyss of the console, then I have to take the tray out to retrieve it. This should solve the issue. brbevil
I just ordered one of those too! http://www.ebay.com/itm/221657050447?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
jdbob
I keep my pocket change in my pocket. ;)
SnowStorm
If you folks had settled for the "lowly" SE (without MFT!), you would have this great storage area right up-front-center! Holds our GPS receiver, glasses, wallet, phone, and occasional pen - even "pocket change" (in a change purse). Amazingly, it stays clean as we rarely leave stuff up there. This "poor mans" dash was one of the reasons we wanted the SE. Saved us the $12.59 plus about $3,000 for SEL! Must admit though that the "FORD ESCAPE KUGA ARMREST SECONDARY STORAGE BOX PALLET CENTER CONSOLE" does look nice but may take a stab at making one from a piece of polished walnut - gotta get some real wood in this car somehow! timwil56
I checked this morning and the open corner is to access the USB ports.
Marc Smith
have not really had the need to use the center console for much of any other other than storing the i pod and a couple of 12v cables for charging various devices. but the deep tray advertised above looks pretty functional. Snow... I have some cherry veneer you could wrap it with. Although I'm more of a high tech guy...I'd wrap it in kevlar...or carbon... stevedebi
Like I said, my main use for the console is to store the large cleaning cloth I use for my glasses, and lots of USB cables and high power chargers. I can easily retrieve those through the open area with the stock tray, but would not be able to do so with this tray. Everyone has their own best use, I suppose. On my Ford Escape hybrid, I took the entire center console tray out - and it was deep. That left a humongeous hole to store lots of stuff in. Bugblndr
Got my tray today and it fits great. No problems with wires from the USB or 12V plugs routing to outside the console either. Thanks for the tip timwil56!
brbevil
I just ordered one of those too! http://www.ebay.com/itm/221657050447?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Looks great and fits perfectly. Perfect for change, phone glasses or whatever without it falling into the abyss.
cheezy
God I love that GRILL !! PS: Best coin holder I've ever used... & highly recommend... is a small metal breath mints holder from Starbucks. Uh yeah, or an Altoids tin if you're a cheap bast adage like me who washes his own in the drive thru. Our '13 SEL has a metric crap ton of places to put stuff, are the SELs THAT different?
