Kelleytoons
I thought I'd start a separate topic for this since the other one where it was mentioned was about an Android phone. It's been pretty well documented on the net that iOS 8.0x has stopped proper connection with many cars. http://www.techtimes.com/articles/16999/20141002/new-ios-8-problems-surface-bluetooth-connectivity-in-vehicles-bug-deleting-files-in-icloud-drive.htm According to the articles 8.02 was supposed to fix this, but I'm running 8.02 on my new iPhone 6 Plus and still having issues. I can make calls fine, and it recognizes both my phone (as primary) and my wife's (she has an iPhone 6 with 8.01) but neither one will receive calls when connected. For me it's not a huge deal -- the only calls I really need to get are from my wife (everyone else is unimportant and I'm retired) and most of the time she's with me or I'm on the way on a short trip to tennis (so I can check my phone after I arrive and/or before I leave the courts). But it's annoying because it worked before with my old phone (4s and iOS 7.x). I don't see this as a SYNC issue -- if it were just Ford vehicles then perhaps, but because it's across other brands it's almost certainly an issue that Apple needs to address. Folks who are far more optimistic than I am might note that this coming Monday (October 20th, 2014) 8.01 is supposed to be rolled out which should fix at least *some* issues, but my experience in life has been this won't fix any issue that *I* have <bg>. TopherTheME
I figured these issues were expected. Is there something that iOS 8.0x does work with?
Kelleytoons
Well, at least it's pairing (and working) properly with my bluetooth earphones and speaker system. But that's a one way pair (similar to making a phone call, as opposed to both making and receiving). And I realized I wrote wrongly -- Monday's upcoming release is NOT 8.01 (which was already out) but 8.1. Sorry (write in haste, edit in leisure). We will see what we will see <g>. Kelleytoons
I can at least report that iOS 8.1 did fix my bluetooth issues with my iPhone 6 Plus -- I can now receive calls just fine (I could always make them). Anyone who has 8.0x should *definitely* update to 8.1.
zacsc
Updated to 8.1.2 and sync still does not recognize voice command to dial a number from my contacts, any suggestions?
Kelleytoons
Hmmm, it works for me (although it will *not* recognize aliases. For example, I can dial my wife by saying "Call Annie Kelley" but not "Call my wife", even though Siri does know and recognize that command when used from the phone). Did it work for you with 8.1.1? Perhaps 8.1.2 broke it -- it's been known to happen. One of the suggestions Macworld and others are making is to perform a reset on your device to resolve bluetooth issues. I did not have to do this to get my phone working again with Sync but perhaps you would (note that a reset will require you to redo a lot of your settings. You won't lose contacts, mail, etc, but you will lose all your preferences). http://www.gottabemobile.com/2014/12/10/ios-8-1-2-problems-fixes/
MtnMarty
Works with 8.1 just as before.
Kelleytoons
Yeah, I was asking Zac if it worked for him before he upgraded to 8.1.2, because I know it worked for me with 8.1 as well. But he may not respond -- he only has 7 posts here so I'm not sure how much (if any) time he actually spends coming back. DaveofDurham
My wife has an iPhone5 with 8.1.2. MFT working fine for her. I have an iPhone4 with 8.1.2. MFT was having problems (could only get my phone to connect if I made it the "favorite" and turned car and phone off once or twice, and then it would still have problem connecting next time I used the car) before I upgraded to 8.1.2. Now with 8.1.2 (installed 2 days ago) I have not been able to connect yet. I am going to remove my phone from the list and then install it again to see oif that helps. Kelleytoons
Yeah, as a general rule it's not a Good Idea to install the newer iOS on any phone a few generations out. I would recommend anyone with anything less than an iPhone 5 to stick to the iOS they already have (IOW, don't install 8.x).

Kelleytoons
Of course that's a bit like someone saying their Max works great except for the battery problem <g>. But if you're okay with it not connecting properly don't worry about it (and 8.2 *might* fix things for you, although I'd doubt it).
SPL Tech
ios 8.1.1 works fine with MFT in my car. both of our iphones do, 5S and 6.
SPL Tech
Also, there is no ios 8.2. As of today, 8.1.2 is the latest.
Kelleytoons
Right, I was saying *when* 8.2 comes out it might fix things for him. As it stands there is likely to be one more patch before that time, but it will be pretty compressed (because the rumor is that 8.2 will hit about late Feb/Early March). We are likely to see 8.1.3 in the next week or so. If we do not, then we can expect 8.2 to be delayed (it will have to come out before the Apple Watch because it contains all the code needed for that). There's no question 8.1.2 still has some problems when it comes to bluetooth, as many people are reporting it. And 8.1.3 will likely address *some* of those, but 8.2 may have the biggest fixes (one of the most telling things is that 8.1.3 isn't being pushed out to beta folks). (And you may infer that I am one of those beta -- I'm not saying I am, but that I might be :>).
