Alternatives to the stealership??

On a VW forum I post on regularly, there is a sticky forum with a national listing of all known alternative VW mechanics. Mechanics that are known to be knowledgeable in the repair of VWs, but who are not associated with a dealer (and therefor charge less and provide superior service).

Is there any such list for Fords? I hate going to the stealership, but when I am traveling I dont necessarily have the time to spend hours on Google trying to find an alternative Ford mechanic in whatever town I happen to be in at the time.

I have two back to back warranty's and I'm at almost 34k miles since purchase in September of 2012.  Once both warranties are gone I have no plan to get rid of Maxus.  I just love this car despite the problems with the MFT not functioning half the time.  But with no battery issues I'm not complaining.

The technology is just way too new.  I know a few good mechanics around my neck of the woods, but I would only take C-max to Ford for major servicing--those guys are getting the latest service updates from Ford, they're working on other C-maxes. etc. etc

But having said that, I'm changing the oil and rotating the tires myself when the next service interval comes up.

Is it really that much different from the Prius or any other hybrid? I suspect not, and if the noobs at the Ford dealership can figure it out I am sure a legit mechanic would do fine.
